Need your help /g/
Want to learn language so I can create an application that displays data from a SQL database in a table, and updates the results automatically in real-time.
What do I learn?
>>52143175
maybe try SQL to start with...
>>52143213
Is that all I'll need? So no python or c++ or anything?
pretty much every language has SQL support. it really doesn't matter.
>>52143175
probably any modern language would suffice
but if you're really curious you can just google the language and the specifics of the "SQL database", is it MSSql Sqlite MySQL Postgres etc

depends how you want to display it. there are lots of pre-build sql clients that will show you the raw data. if you want charts and shit you're better off using periscope.

Thanks anons.
Just a simple table will be fine, with the option to customize size, fonts, colours etc... Nothing too flashy.
The database is already in place (been running for years) , so will probably just start learning python and sql.
Unless anyone thinks there's better for what I need?

It's Sql server

>adding entire codebases of complexity
>just to change the font colors
>>52143528
Am I overcomplicating this? What's the simplest way to go about this, in your opinion?

depends what your goals are. if it's a 1-off commercial project because your manager is too stupid to open an SQL client, then use https://www.periscopedata.com/
if you want to waste a lot of billable hours and build a shitty version yourself, then by all means, make a web app for it.

Thanks, will look at periscope for the short term.
I'm determined to build a 'shitty' version myself though in my spare time, just so I've got something to work towards while I'm learning all this stuff!
