Not the guy who you are responding to, but I disagree. The latest MS Office really get's in the way of its users, with self promoted shit like Sky drive and so on. Every now and then a pop-up window appears and asks for proxy settings... why in the hell does a word processor need web access? MS is trying to mimic Google and Apple and they are doing it badly.
LibreOffice, or OpenOffice, which I prefer, just get out of the users way.
But that's common between Windows and Unix/Linux counterparts. Annoying pop-ups and unnecessary features getting in the way of people who just want to get things done.
My guess is, that the Linux target audience still is high IQ achievers, and not the general public rot with IQs of under 100, so they need a stupid dog or paper clip telling them what to do.
