Not the best but good enough for me. That peak was basically what was holding me back. I was considering just getting the 800 and modding it but at this point and at the price I'm getting it I may as well. I can sell the balanced cable later if I want anyway.

Can I get a non-fangirl review of these?
I'm wondering if I can fangirl over these or not.

To give an idea of the quality of sound I'm looking for, my last pair of headphones was the Seinheiser 201, and I'd be okay with an equal sound quality from Axent Wear but not lesser.
>>
>>52125863
cmon, thats silly and you know it. there are plenty of good competing headphones
>>
>>52125821
The 6kHz peak is nasty, modding a vanilla unit doesn't remove it but makes it less audible, I'm not sure what to think of these measurements, it's good that the stock HD 800 and HD 600 are there for a relative comparison.
>>52125863
I gave away my Q 701. I guess that means my life no longer has value.
>>
>>52125885
There is no way in hell the sound quality from phones or the speakers would be enough to warrant the $160 price tag.
>>
>>52125916
in the same price range? I doubt it

>>52125925
but Q701 <<<<<<< K702/7XX
>>
>>52125945
I know, but they're a pretty cool pair of headphones.
I'm just wanting to know if it has the raw sound quality of an acceptable pair of headphones.
>>
>>52125945
Nobody is buying that for the sound quality.
>>52125946
That's wrong, according to AKG, Q 701 and K 702 only differ cosmetically. I didn't like K 7XX, found them to sound dull and boomy.
>>
>>52125925
>modding a vanilla unit doesn't remove it but makes it less audible
As this does, but it seems like no third party effort has been able to do it as well as Sennheiser have here, based on this measurement at least. Plus considering the kind of 'mod' they used, you can still do your own experimentation later on with the basic rug liner etc mods.

They're not very different actually, but I'd still prefer the K702, because its midbass is less accentuated.
>>
>>52125988
>Nobody is buying that for the sound quality.
Only people buying those are furry twinks who want to wear them while getting railed in the ass.

And probably Twitch streamers. And shit, you wouldn't want people thinking you might be a Twitch streamer.

>>
>>52126085
On the basis of him using a HD 201, which is his required standard for sound quality.
>>52126121
This graph means nothing due to placement differences and manufacturer variance. Q 701 and K 702 are the same. K 7XX and K 712 has more accentuated mid-bass compared to Q 701/K 702. Your previous post doesn't even make sense as you rated the K 7XX over the Q 701.
>>52126122
I see.
>>52126124
Interesting.
>>
>>52126209
How do you compare HD 201 with Axent Wear though?
Do you just go by looking at price? Because I don't know if HD 201 is an exceptional pair of headphones in terms of quality:price.
>>
>>52126209
so shall we say that Q701/K702 > K7XX > K712 > K701?
>>
>>52126241
The HD201 is pretty unexceptional.
>>
>>52125821
eq tbhq close relatives.
>>
>>52126264
So, how do you know Axent Wear would compare?
Sorry for being so cautious, but it's an expensive purchase.
>>
>>52126241
HD 201 would be considered sub-standard here, I've heard a pair a few years ago and it sounded bad but it would be acceptable for one who doesn't care about sound quality.

The Axent Wear would probably be what beats is (or was) to audiophiles a few years ago, fashion headphones, sound quality isn't the main selling point, but the brand, status, etc. was.

>>52126242
K 701, K 702 and Q 701 are the same regarding sound quality.

K 7XX and K712 are the same regarding sound quality. Compared to the K 701, K 702 and Q 701, they have more bass.

Not sure where the K 702 65th Anniversary edition stands as I haven't heard it myself and I haven't seen any measurements.
>>
>>52126349
I do care about sound quality, but not to a ludicrous extent.
Unfortunately, it seems that since audiophiles don't seem interested in Axent Wear, there isn't any way for me to tell what the sound quality is.

It would probably be better than the HD 201. Hence why I said that earlier.

Also sound quality is an unusual topic, it can be measured and quantified but not everyone prefers the best measuring result. Think of it like food, it's entirely subjective.

>>

>>
Are K702s actually really good for the money, or is it just some meme shit because they were in some Chinese cartoon.

Or is it both.
>>
>>52126397
I've tried a pair of these out and I also used to own a pair of 201s
They sound slightly better than the 201s but not great at all, especially at the price tag,
The quality out of the speakers isn't brilliant either as it amplifies the feed going to the headphones, so make sure to turn the input as high as possible or it'll sound like staticy shite, it won't be very loud no matter what you do though.
They're also really heavy.
Get a pair of real headphones and customise the headband, it'll be cheaper and better you filthy furry bastard.

I'm not too big of an audiophile but what stuck out for me was the lack of bass. That and that the sound was kind of...shallow I guess is how I would put it

>>
>>52126636
>>52126640
Don't they balance the construction and the return policy so that they only break after the warranty has expired? At least that's been my experience with cheaper phones.
>>
>>52126643
My opinion on them are mixed. The bass leakage issue is real. It's fixed on the K 7XX and K 712.

I wouldn't recommend them since I prefer HD 600 and DT 880.

>>52126655
Meh, I didn't find them particularly impressive. I preferred the Samson SR850 which I paid $30 for.

>>52126643
K701 are the cartoon meme ones, 702 are what autists buy because they don't want to be classified as a weeaboo. Q701 are bought by people who didn't know the K existed.
>>
>>52126645
I love the overall high-tech look of Axent Wear though, it'd be hard to replicate that aesthetic.

>>52126695
Darn, I love good bass and deep sound.
>>
>>52126713
>How cheap are we talking about here? $5?
As far as headphones go, $30 radioshack brand full-size headphones, also this $50 headset that still technically works but whose warranty has expired. I don't think $5 headphones have warranties, do they?
>>
>>52126759
>Darn, I love good bass and deep sound.
But the HD 201 doesn't do that.
>>52126775
No idea. I've owned a lot of headphones, none of them really malfunctioned on me. I'd just get something cheap that's well reviewed on an online store. I paid $15 for a KSC75 so many years ago and I've been using it for years when I run, the cord is fragile yes, but I haven't yanked it or anything.

If you want something more durable and want something to last the rigors of your usage maybe consider spending a bit more and looking at its construction via reviews and gauging the quality via images/videos online.
>>
>>52126759

well don't let me stop you from trying them out. They blew their load of indiegogo money on storefront advertisements for pretty much every brookestones or barnes and noble I've been to. you can try on a demo pair there.
>>
>>52126349
K612 Pro > all other AKG?
>>
>>52126929
So these were made with a much smaller budget than the campaign would indicate?
Maybe they'll release a better model later. I'd have no doubts about buying that.
>>
>>52127004
You don't buy a headphone like that for sound quality. No one actually thought they were going to sound good for that price. They were made for purely aesthetic reasons.
>>
>>52126947
theyre easily the best headphones in their price bracket, and theyre also very very close to the rest of akg's stuff. they might even be better, yes
>>
>>52127055

I'd think that they'd like to defeat the bad quality rep they're getting.

Why do you think everyone walks round with SkullCandys and Beats.

Buy the aesthetic weeb headphones or get your mum/girlfriend too and be done with it.

Well I did hear it but older AKG designed headphones are a bit unique in that they feature very large earpads that cause bass leakage.

I listened to a fairly new unit which had stiff earpads and as I expected, I did not like what I heard, bass was weak. When the earpads break-in it should sound better.
>>
>>52127238
Not that guy but HD 558 for starters.

AD700, X2

I'm looking for something that sounds similar to the X2s, but with more mids. Or a happy medium between the AD700s and X2s.

Anyone willing to help me find an upgrade from my AD700's?

I'm looking between $100-200 but I'd rather not go over $150 unless you can justify the price.

USA located

Standard 3.5mm jack for desktop use

Full ear open headphones

Comfort is important, should be able to be worn for 2 hours or more

Neutral balance heavily preferred

Non specific music but do enjoy hearing prog rock in good quality, but used a lot for games and movies

Whenever the Massdrop for the Fostex TH-X00 happens again, get those.

Otherwise if you want to go high end then get the Gen 1 Beyerdynamic T-1's as there at a great price now or get the HE400i if you want to stay around the same price.

I kind of want the Fostex TH-X00 myself, also looking for a Sony MDR-XB1000 but those things are always overpriced now that they are out of stock.

Hello /hpg/!
I'm more software than peripherals but I'm trying to replace my epin gaymer headset.
I've bought a decent microphone, so no mic is preferred. Recommend me a nice pair of headphones for under $100.

(If its usb dac, native linux kernel support is much preferred!)

How are the K612's for rock?

I own a couple closed back headphones like the M50x and M-100 and they're way too bassy and congested for rock. So, I'm looking for a neutral open headphone that's "spacious" sounding that doesn't make genres like rock a complete ear rape.
