Any rumors or rumblings about monitors at CES 2016? Was going to pick up pic related, the u2715h, but I figured that I should wait since we're a week away from CES.
Also /display/monitor general I guess.
I just picked up a Viewsonic 18.5 i don't give a fuck
Affordable 27" 4K IPS Gsync + GPU that can take it when? Summer 2016?
I think I'm going to get a U2515H as my first monitor for that sweet pixel density. if I wait around for a couple months I should be able to catch a price drop, right?
>>52120967
Seconded. Anyone think this will go on sale?
>>52120967
>>52122397
Yeah. Dell will realize no one gives a shit about them so they'll drop the price in hopes people will notice it
>>52120967
>U2515H
I have the 24" U2410 and while I've loved it for years, 1920x1200 just doesn't cut it anymore for development work and I feel like the U2515H's 2560x1440 will get old in a year or two. For this reason I'd rather fork over another $100 for a 27" dell 4k, albeit fat bezel and shitty aesthetics compared to this.
Tell why I'm wrong

This monitor regularly goes on sale for 20-30% off MSRP on Dell's site. Check right now and it might still be on sale for their Christmas savings event.
It's on sale for $250.00 off MSRP in Canada right now.

Good luck with getting a discount
i bought my first U2414H 1,5 years ago for $300
i bought my second U2414H 1 month ago for $300

I'm the guy you quoted. I have chosen 1440p over 4k because the latter will be too much of a strain for a GTX 980 in some games. I also wonder if a 27 in screen is really going to be all that useful if you have to scale everything up to make it legible. I could see a larger 4k monitor with the same pixel density as what you have being more useful to you
I used a 27 in 1440p monitor for a couple of years and always found it to be a pleasant balance for my purposes, but your work may demand more real estate

fingers crossed

This. Once you understand Dell's discount rotations (generally cash off one week then percentage based discount the next, rinse and repeat) it's easy to get good deals. I scored two P2715Qs at 25% off each just waiting for it to happen. They're seemingly randomly with which products get discounted though and generally new items will get discounted not that long after their release. I think I missed out on 30% off of the P2715Q shortly after they were first released.
I'd only bother waiting for CES if you intend on getting something cutting edge, by which I mean expensive and includes most of the following features:
>a non-TN panel
>Free/G/Adaptive/Meme Sync
>144Hz
>More than 1920 horizontal pixels

huh! look at that, $400 on Dell's website. pcpartpicker doesn't index them obviously and the cheapest price they could see was $550. I might just get this now then
>>52123143
whoops I bought it. many thanks to you anons for saving me money and time
General question: Are the cheap korean 1440p panels from Qnix still recommendable? Its about as expensive as the UH2515H and can be overclocked, but its almost 2016 and I am unsure
>>52120928
I would say so, 4k ips without Gsync is already here. I could Asus releasing 4k IPS GSYNC (maybe 75hz) at computex in June.
>>52122507
I heard the 27" 4k has some bad firmware issues and sometimes refuses to turn on
Should I get the U2415? Is the 2515 worth the extra 100 or so? My current build isn't very good
Waiting for ultrawide news. Waited all through 2015 might as well wait a little more.

Damn anon, Jet has one for $337 with a promo code. gunna nab that bitch up/
>>52123006
I got a u2414h for 199 at newegg last month. It's pretty nice.
>>52123831
what then? better alternatives for ~300?
Monitor related question
My second monitor is smaller than my main
Should I set it up so that the tops are flush, the bottoms or roughly in the centre?
>>52126168
get monitors the same size god damn it thats so hideous
>>52126182
I'd rather have one big'n and one little'n over 2 little'ns
I did look for the same model of monitor only smaller but it just isn't around
>>52123817
What promo code? There's also 15% on your first order
>>52126168
I would do either top or bottom, whichever feels more natural to look over at. Centered looks dumb.
I'm hoping someone makes a 5160x2160 ultrawide.
>>52126168
scaled mock
looks perfectly suitable for menial shit
>>52120967
