If you want to learn more about content feedback systems in general, "The Filter Bubble" is a good place to start- it's a book that is worth reading. Good general audience introduction and exploration of the content feedback loops that have been around for almost a decade now.

I love Perl 5, but the lack of strict typing makes it difficult to write moderately sized programs properly, as shown by Netanel twice.
Perl 6 uses gradual typing so it's possible to restrict the type of input parameters to functions. List flattening and references have also been fixed AFAIK.
I hope Perl 6 gains enough traction to survive while gradually phasing out Perl 5.
The talks, other than a couple of good ones, are a bit crap this year. Even some of the promising sounding ones are just rehashes of older research.
