thanks for keeping me safe microsoft. I sure love windows 10 and cortana! You guys are such a great company!
>>
>>52118736
this is completely bullshit imho, there's no excuse for robbing away the "freedom of choice" from people.

if they do this now, what will they do in the future?
>>
>>52118844
Because people are all dumb anyways, why offer choice when they're too stupid to use it? See Apple and their 200 billion stash

All I ever wanted was to share all my private and intimate data with every powerful government in the world.

Thank you, Microsoft, for making sure that my privacy is 100% secure, and only shared with Microsoft, law enforcement agencies, various governments, and ABSOLUTELY no one else! I can sleep easy, knowing with certainty that all my data is safe, and only legally accessible by a few million lawful people.

Microsoft cares deeply about your privacy. And your private data. Mostly the private data. They only want to log every keystroke you make, in order to protect you! From the evil-doers! Think of the children! 110 million people have already upgraded! Are you a patriot? Do you love your country? Then upgrade to Windows 10!

Do you know who refused to upgrade to Windows 10™ for free®?

Hitler.

Hitler NEVER upgraded to Windows 10™. You are not like Hitler... are you?

Upgrade to Windows 10™ today! It is free®!

Yes, normal people don't like choice. They might be annoyed that the computer just restarts and updates in the middle of their presentation, but they will just find a way to live with it. People actually prefer when companies remove their freedom and is willing to pay a premium (like to apple) to get someone to control what applications they can install and so on.
>>
>>52119326
This is why Linux have to be free. People need extra incentives to choose freedom, people prefer to live with limited possibilities so they can blame the system when they never amount to anything.
>>
>tfw everyone I know avoids Windows 10 out of fear of getting spied upon
I guess they'll have to wait for people to buy a new PC.
>>
>>52119326
>They might be annoyed that the computer just restarts and updates in the middle of their presentation, but they will just find a way to live with it.

This is THE reason why I don't use windows 10 on my laptop. I can't trust my computer to know then a good time to reboot is
>>
>>52119197
>and ABSOLUTELY no one else!
I know you're writing satire but you forgot the long list of data brokerage companies, like bluekai, axcziom and such.
The world of personal data isn't just advertising, it's reams and reams of companies that buy and sell the data.
Some even just sell the data to criminals, because hey, they pay money for it.
>>
Did you know that you can set Windows Update so it cannot restart when a user is logged on?
>>
>>52119326
>They might be annoyed that the computer just restarts and updates in the middle of their presentation
windows 10 isn't doing that, is it?
>>

Apple doesn't control what applications you can install on their computers anymore than Windows does.

What the fuck, Microsoft? I just don't understand. Are they intentionally trying to crash their OS, and perhaps even their name, with no survivors? They're seriously taking this bullshit way too far and it's really putting me off of wanting anything to do with their products.

Win10 is fine for me. I just used some anti spy programs to disable some shit and set everything like telemetry and group policy.

There is done truth to this. Namely there is such a thing as too many [typically meaningless] choices.

Ok. Let me amend.

All I ever wanted was to share all my private and intimate data with every powerful government in the world.

Thank you, Microsoft, for making sure that my privacy is 100% secure, and only shared with Microsoft, law enforcement agencies, data brokerage companies, advertisers, various governments around the globe, and ABSOLUTELY no one else! I can sleep easy, knowing with certainty that all my data is safe, and only legally accessible by a few million lawful people. No bad guys will EVER have access to MY data! Unless, of course, there are bad employees at Microsoft/data brokerage companies/advertising agencies/governments/law enforcement/etc... but that is almost guaranteed with near sure certainty to probably never happen.

People who refuse to upgrade to Windows 10 are the ones who hate you, hate your country, hate your freedom, and want to take away YOUR RIGHTS!

Do you know who refused to upgrade to Windows 10™ for free®?

Hitler.

Hitler NEVER upgraded to Windows 10™. You are not like Hitler... are you?

Upgrade to Windows 10™ today! It is free®!

I downloaded Deluge on my MBP a couple months ago, and it told me it wouldn't run apps from unidentified developers or something like that (basically non-app store apps). It's fairly trivial to get around (basically open up System Preferences and click a button) but it took a bit of googling to figure that out. Additionally, with El Capitan, they're restricting what sudo can do (basically can't alter system-critical directories except for a few), but again, that can be disabled (which, again, I had to google to find out).

That being said, I use both Windows 10 and El Capitan because they're the most up-to-date versions and I know that there are enough Windows 10 users that Microsoft truly doesn't care about me as an individual, and I'm not so stuck on the fact that they collect data that it's going to force me to bend over backwards and jump through way, way too many hoops to install Arch.
>>
If I decide to update your Win10, should version should I get? Is there an easy way to get enterprise?

Reinstalling my winblows 7 desktop tonight and been thinking about either win 8.1 and 10.

Are those spy removal scripts ive seen at least somewhat effective?

Only thing keeping me from 10 is the shitty inconsistent UI and other smaller issues but I like the smaller footprint.

>been thinking about either win 8.1 and 10.
Don't.
>Are those spy removal scripts ive seen at least somewhat effective?
Not on 10.
Fine on 7 and 8, but then 8 has its own separate issues. 10 is botnet mode in full effect. 7 is least bad. Stick to 7.
