Why aren't you running dual PSUs, /g/?
Because dual PSU's are a frogposter tier meme.
What is being shown in the picture like dafuq good could come out of sticking a paperclip in two prongs

Sticking it in those specific prongs tricks the PSU into thinking it's hooked to a motherboard and turns it on. You could then have the PSU hooked up to just a hard drive or something to decrease the load on your main psu. And fry the hard drive, probably.

That's how you turn on the PSU without the motherboard controlling it. You ground the gray wire.
I did once, when my 400w couldn't take a 4870 with all my other crap so I had to nigger rig an old psu for just the gpu.
>>52114917
You do it to test the PSU fan so you can check if it's completely fried or not.

shorting the green wire to ground turns on the PSU
>>52114888
Because I don't need them in any of my current setups.
However, during the mining era, I used multiple PSUs all the time.
Difference in ground levels

Lurk more
I have two computers, does that count

Just imagine how much money you'd have if you didn't spend all those BTCs on drugs.
>>52115011
Eh, I actually got in too late. Basically broke even with the hardware I bought. :(
Did get a lot of f*cking Starbucks off the little bit I did profit. Which I guess, yea, coffee is sorta a drug.

>tfw when starts the fan but you still don't know if really works
Because im not using over 2000w.

I had an old video card that required too much power for my old PC I had lying around.
I hooked two PSU together from pin that supposedly would make both turn on at the same time. It actually worked for a while.
The problem came when I turned the PC off, because they wouldn't turn off at the same time. Next time I turned them on, I got no video. The motherboard fried and probably the video card as well.
I didn't even used the parts anymore so I didn't mind much.
>tfw I could've greentexted that story but I didn't

Way back in like '09 or '10, I mined 0.10 BTC. I gambled in an online casino until I had 0.15 BTC. I then forgot about it, and have formatted that drive many times since then.
At $1000/BTC, that .15 would have been $150. Shame.

Checked.

Maybe a little expensive for what it is, but for a more permanent solution it may be worth it.
You only need those for critical systems, not home systems. Those need a case and mobo that support dual PSUs & cost a Lot more. If you're using consumer level parts, it would be significantly cheaper to buy two boxes and setup active passive failover.

Have you factored in the fucking electricity? Or dit mommy pay it for you?
