Reminds me of what I ran into not too long ago:
>Wasting time at a shopping mall waiting for a friend to show up
>End up going to a local equivalent that's fittingly called "Expert"
>As I'm going trough the computer section I notice an Asus gaming rig
>One of those smaller form factor cases, some lower range i7, 12 GB or RAM, a 256 GB SSD and a 2 GB HDD for 1149€
>No mention of what GPU it has, but I'm guessing it's got to be at least a GTX 970 at that price
>A wild sales clerk appears
>Ask him what GPU it has and point out that for a gaming machine that's a pretty important aspect
>Agrees that yes, it really should mention what GPU it has and goes to check what GPU it has
>Comes back and tells me that it's got a GTX 960
>Tell him I'm not interested then as my current rig has a GTX 970 (which it does, but I wasn't interested in a new rig to begin with and just killing time by going into this shitty store)
>Thanks me for pointing out about the lack of GPU being mentioned and says that they're definitely going to fix it
>Killing time at the same mall a couple of months later
>Go to check if they ever fixed the lack of some pretty important information or lowered the price
>Still 1149€ and still no mention of what GPU it has
>>52107492

Yeah, I've seen this exact machine in the MS store at Best Buy. Never, NEVER say "gaming" or "game" when talking to workers when asking about specs on things like monitors, or all following information will be presented as if you're some kind of social retard. I ended up getting a monitor on Amazon instead when my friend let loose the word "game."
>My autistic rant on buying computers from retail
Also, in just about all retail stores, CPUs will just be labeled "Intel." If they do not say i5 or i7, they are likely trying to withhold the CPU's model from you in an effort to scam you. I have seen Target selling Acer all-ABS-plastic 15.4" 1366*768 Celeron laptops for $500 as "Full HD with Intel Processor!"
As for testing laptops in these stores, good fucking luck. They put passwords on them to keep people from installing shit or doing administrator-only tasks, but they've evidently never heard of auto login on Windows. Unless the laptop has already been logged into within the past five minutes, you can't see how it performs at all. You may as well be window-shopping.

I actually had two ASUS motherboards shit on me. I then bought a gigabyte, never had an issue since.
Tfw you've had a 1200w thermaltake psu for 7 years and it's still going tough. It aint' easy being hard in the rock pile, yo.

The same thing that is true for every motherboard manufacturer based in Asia: they CS is shit.
Gigabyte,Asus,MSI,etc will all go out their way to screw around you should their superior chinese engineering product fail on you and, you'll go through a nasty, lengthy RMA. There are few exceptions where that doesn't happen but, that's the exception rather than the norm.
The first and foremost thing you should looking for when you buy some pc component is the CS the company that manufactures it provides. A product is only as good as the company that stands behind it is.
Whatever awesomeness, features, clocks and whatnot your pc part comes with, the moment it fails and the RMA service its shit, will quickly be forgotten about.

What motherboards aren't chinese? I'm sure even EVGA boards are made in China and they probably outsource everything but the management and marketing departments.
>>52110193
It's true though, drivers won't let the memory go higher than 3.5gb.
>>52108389
What a coincidence. I've never had an ASUS fail on me. Guess I'm just better at computers
>>52107559
>>Gigabyte motherboard
gigabyte is best byte
my p43 gigabyte mobo from 2009 is still going strong despite it running at near max fsb since i got it (410), going through socket surgery to run lga 771 xeons (overclocked) and having most of its pci/e sockets and usb ports loaded with shit. love this mobo.
>>52107559
Just for you baka
>>52107559
>CLC is had meme
>>52110150
Last time I checked EVGA HQs are in the US and provides incredibly good CS. However, companies like ASUS and so on are headquartered in asia and their CS matches the non-existant standards they've got down there.

You batted 1 out of 3 correct.
The water cooler is absolute shit. But RM650 is made by CWT (respectable jap company) and Gigabyte is basically Asus now (bios wise).

do you really need a dedicated internal optical drive in 2016 - 3 days?
I dig the case. If I can buy it seperately (if less than $80) and give it this paint job I'd do that instead.

>Ibuypower aka CyberpowerPC
they buy the cheapest parts, slap them together haphazardly somewhere in china and sell it for the cost of parts + 500 bucks, and don't even include a recovery disk in the package.
