Have you ever donated real world money to some software project?
How much?
Which one?
I donated 10 euro a couple of times to Vim, FSF, OpenSSH and GPG. I want to keep doing it monthly. However I don't use PayPal or a credit card, so I need to figure out a way to do it via bank trasnfer.

Donated to powder and to synfig a couple of times. Just did it through their website with a MasterCard. I also donated to Wikipedia once during their last begathon now I get the bad feeling I contributed to their behaviour.
does sonemic count?

$0
Now ask us how much money can kickstarter and indiegogo produce for repacked open source software/hardware with fancy name and marketing?

Sheet the only time i'd donate is if the software in some way has helped me just depends on the software project and how i can benefit using it.

I donated 100 dollars to winrar license recovery fund.
It seeks to collect the money rightfully owed the winrar developers that nobody ever pays

I threw around a good amount of donations to based modders fighting the good fight to get valve to back down on their bullshit during the great skyrim modding war.
$250 towards Firefox over 5 years back in the day. $300 to FSF. I sent $50 to Mint developers. I've never pirated an app.
Oh, I should mention that I am not a jobless loser NEET, so I can actually help support projects that I find beneficial.
I donate $50 CAD annually to the FSF.

I donated $50 to TOX (anyone rtemember this shit?) only so the devs could pay their tuition and fuck around with VPNs.
I'll never donate to a /g/ project again. Maybe to something trustworthy and professional like the FSF or EFF.

I've donated $0.50 to LogOS. Shit was pretty cash.
I have very little disposable income right now but I'd definitely consider it.
$80 to tPope and Uganda
I donated $50 to Bay 12 Games to support the continued development of Dwarf Fortress.

>donating for propriatery software
29$ for Overgrowth that was 5 years ago and it's still in it's alpha phase
>Brahm Cohen not long after the creation of bittorrent.
>Azureus before it became Vuse.
>OpenOffice before it was abandoned
>EFF if that counts
Haven't donated to anything in about a decade, though. Probably should.

yo that shit is trash, they've just been dicking around and working on other games. last time i tried to launch my copy it crashed instantly and i couldn't get it to fucking work not even reinstalling it. the concept and idea is awesome but if they could just do what the fuck they're supposed to then that'd be great
I donate $20 or $30 to OpenBSD every once in a while
40$ to Brad Sucks.
5EUR to the developer of MP3Tag. Just because he asked nicely (no intrusive popups or begging banners) and I use the software pretty much every week
2 Euros to Calibre. Back when I used it weekly.
