eewww gross. looks like linux.

looking good < capable of supporting work
>>
Older OS X looks better. Apple is going downhill in every regard including design now without Steve.
>>
That's because Microsoft can't into UX/UI.
They keep it shit so it's relatable to older versions of Windows.

You could argue that using Windows you can customise the experience using visual styles and patching methods to completely replace the pig disgusting Microsoft design, because Microsoft obviously own a larger market share so there are far more software options to choose from.

Yosemite was a turd, I'm using 10.11 and it's fucking beautiful. Far better than Mavericks, which I thought was a great looking OS.

I meant performance-wise.
El Capitan is really snappy indeed whereas Yosemite was a step back in many areas.

I use both MacPro's, and Workstations with Windows 10 for work. The PC is way better, and I prefer to do my work there. The Mac is only good if you work with the limited number of pro software it is optimized for. So the MacPro was basically designed for Maya, for everything else, it is a waste of money.

That looks dangerously close to KDE, especially in the icons department. In fact it looks like they stole a few from the Oxygen set (The folder in "Sharing").

VMWare VSphere Client
XenCenter
MSSQL Studio

Anything to do with Linux management can be handled via SSH under OSX and Oracle SQL Developer runs there too, but the three I listed there don't run under OSX.

Also, in my spare time I bang out music using FL Studio, which is windows only.

That icon has been there since before you were born.

If you people want to criticize Apple there are plenty of valid points, but all of you focus on retarded shit because I suspect most of you haven't even used OS X at all.

Same boat with my 2010 MBP. I can't really excuse it when it still works amazingly well after a RAM upgrade + slapping an SSD into the DVD slot. I want a rMBR though, but at this rate this laptop will meet all my needs for at least a couple more years.

It's the other way around, inbred. KDE's oxygen set is the one "borrowing" from decades old OS X icons.

the last time MS made a decent, solid, well designed UI was Windows 95
and instead of fixing the handful of issues it had (taskbar has a 2px gap, so you can't just slam the mouse to the screen edge and click -- you have to actually aim for the start button or bars; editing filetypes was pretty dumb in 95, especially after some crap you installed decided "lol, I own these types now" and it wasn't just a "find program, done" change, there was a minor dialog maze to get to it), they mostly just made it worse (consistency, performance, etc)

mind you, half of why 95 is so nice is because it's a damn good System 7 clone (actually, 95 was nicer in some ways, although Apple's control panel was so much better it hurt)
fucking Apple hasn't had such a nice UI since then either (usability wise)
and I think OSX's aesthetics have died since 10.4 (10.3 is more consistent, but 10.4 is prettier, I don't like the glass+metal look it had from 10.5 on, nor the new iOS-style look which isn't bad but isn't good)

so a little update here. I tried installing Transmission, but whenever I open it, it disappears from my Apps folder. could my company have tampered with this Mac to prevent me from using torrents? How do people keep getting the title bars of different programs and weird little MS apps to have different colours so that people can complain about it? The only application that does not have a white title bar for me is Steam.

No thanks. Flat design was never intended for something as complex as an entire OS.
