Get the Filco only if it's significantly cheaper than the Ducky. I'm rather surprised that Filcos (and Topres) are damn expensive in western countries. Here in SEA, Filcos cost like 110 USD.

Huh, Filco costs almost $200 - http://www.amazon.com/Filco-Majestouch-2-Tenkeyless-FKBN87M-EFB2/dp/B004ZJPSGI

My 3, E, D, C column of keys on my corsair vengeance stopped working. A week ago being the clumsy idiot i am I remember spilling some liquid (but not much) near and some on my keyboard, I didn't think much of it since it was so little liquid, so I merely cleaned it up with a towel (didn't unplug or anything) how fucked am I? I spilled under the spacebar if it matters.
>>
>>52103315
>spill liquid on electronics
>keep using electronics without properly cleaning them
>surprised that they fuck up

serves you right desu senpai

Given that it's one whole column that stopped working, I'm guessing that either a diode in the matrix is kill or that it's shorting out somehow (I've had something similar happen to me once when resoldering an LED).

Try soaking the whole thing in distilled water for a day and then let it dry (actually let it fucking dry properly you impatient imbecile). Also, unplug it first.

I got a Leopold FC750R for Christmas. Where do I go from here? Is this pretty much endgame for cherry mx keyboards?
>>
I had an issue with one of my keyboards, a ducky shine zero

It worked fine for a long time but then one day just started outputting random keypresses and became unusable. I reinstalled the firmware which I got direct from ducky and then it worked for a bit, then the issue started again.

I then sent it off to ducky, who said it was fine and sent it back. Still doesn't work consistently.

"Works on my machine"

I've been using another keyboard since but I would like to get my ducky back online. Any suggestions?

Oh and I tried a different ducky keyboard and the same shit happened. Any idea what is going on?
>>
>>52103520
Buy some shitty Razer keyboard, return it after a week or two, and then get a Ducky/Leopold/Filco.
>>
>>52103531
That sounds like your computer is having an issue with the microcontroller that ducky uses. I'd guess it was the same controller for both of those boards?

>>

If you know what microcontroller it is that they use, you could make sure to avoid any other keyboard which uses that one.

Though I'd sooner try something such as reinstalling your OS. It sounds like there's something fundamentally wrong with system in the first place.

I'm thinking of getting one from pexon to go with my soon-to-be-mine HHKB.

What "firmware" are you talking about? The only ducky "firmware" is for updating the onboard shit,so you can do fancy shit with your fn key.If you have anything e lse remove it and use the stock usb HID drivers for your os.

Its something on your end, software wise.

>>
>>52104465
Yes, though depending on the circumstances you won't hear it. It's more prominent on boards with tighter builds, as there is less flex to absorb the ping.

My NovaTouch pings at work, due to the more rigid work surface and different acoustics.

Hhkb fn layout is much more logic
Control and backspace are in the right places

Topre > cherry
>>
>>52103522
In terms of build quality: Yes.

Leopold keyboards are build like tanks so unless you start to dislike the layout there isnt really much of a point in buying anything else. It also uses PBT caps so you cant even 'go up' on that part. Can try different switches, but thats about it.
>>
Does the Ducky Zero has the Filco Ping?

I just got an old IBM Model M keyboard from a friend. It was about to be thrown away but my friend gave it to me because it was in working condition. However the B, N, -, the spacebar and the arrow keys sometimes act up and don't work (although they are fine as I'm typing this). Is there any way to fix this? This is my first mechanical keyboard so I'm not really farmiliar with the technology.
>>
>>52110368
I have a Model M and it is the greatest keyboard in the world. You can always sell it if you don't want it, but don't let it get thrown away. You probably should clean the keycaps and all since it sounds a bit beat up, but it'll shine right back up like they day it was new :)

> spacebar and arrow keys act up

The M is different from the boards everybody else here is using. It has buckling spring switches which are literally a small spring that bends when you press a key down. If it's acting up then you can remove the spacebar cap by grabbing it, squeezing and pulling it off (I find that it's easiest to remove the b key and grab it from there and the bottom). Once that is removed you can get to the actual springs. Try blowing some compressed air in there in case there is any dirt. These are some of the only keyboards with a truly infinite life, you just have to clean them thoroughly every now and then. You can do the same thing to clean the springs for the arrow keys, but there will be two caps to remove, one with the symbol, and one under it that houses the actual spring.

Enjoy your board :)
>>
>>52110368
could be a couple things. spring weakened over time, some gunky stuff inside. I'd start by adding a tiny drop of oil down the hole.

Filco for solid, no frills cheap board (depending on location).

Ducky for solid board plus gimmicks that may or may not fail in a month.

Reds and Blacks are linear switches. They do not produce clicks.

Blue and Browns are tactile and they are clicky.

And for good reason.

Could get way better keyboard for that price.

No clue why people like them but you can buy and sell for profit pretty easily

I mean, I guess some of them look pretty decent, but when your product is 2x2cm and you're 3d printing it, it's not going to be a work of art

This is my Lexmark Model M. Coming from my laptop's keyboard, typing is now really really fun.

Buckling spring switches feel much nicer than the cherry switches I've tried in a switch tester, more like typing on precisely machine industrial equipment instead of consumer electronics. I now want to try some topre switches, but I don't want to spend another 20 bucks just for Cooler Master's tester that has only one topre.

You know you don't have to get a set with translucent legends - you can get something of actual quality and use the backlighting as an underglow. Or you could get a translucent polycarb set from SP or Max.

KEY TRAVEL. Aka travel distance. The distance from reset point to actuation point. How far you have to press the key to register a keystroke.

Got a Filco Majestouch 2 ninja and I like it but I want to replace the keycaps since they feel cheap

New to this so what type of keycaps should I be looking for? Can I just buy any ninja kepcap set and it'll fit in the Filco?

Reading the FAQ atm
>>
>>52113333
I bought it because I like the razer green switches. Feels just like the cherry blue but the actuation point is a little higher so you just have to gently tap the top of the keycap. I bought it knowing full well what else is on the market. I even said:
> " but no way in hell would I recommend it for the average user. It's overpriced to hell and back, and that's hard to deny"

Does it use Cherry key switches? If so you should be able just use any set of cherry keycaps.

Hello /mkg/, italian fag reporting in.
Can you help me find a mechanical keyboard with the following specs or something very close?
- brown or blue switches
- white backlit or no backlit at all

- not retarded font
- italian layout

Money is no object.

Okay long story short I've been using steelseries 6gv2 and I need to change keycaps/keyboard but since I have some spare money now I decided to buy a new keyboard (keycaps for 6gv2 are rare and pretty damn expensive with shipping costs).

Since my 6gv2 is just plain black with no rice whatsoever I'm looking for something new and Shine 5 is attracting me with its features. I would never buy a keyboard just because of LEDs but it seems like Ducky is also making a good quality keyboards with a standard ANSI layout so I would be able to turn off LEDs and get any custom keycaps if I want to.

Filco Majestouch 2 TKL because I don't use tenkey anyway and a more compact keyboard would be nice I guess. I've read a lot about Filco's quality so it's a legit keyboard I could be sure of (like no space for dying LEDs or anything). I could customize it with new keycaps as well.
But Filco looks almost identical to my 6gv2 with the default keycaps.
Some people just want to use something new after a couple of years.
