So my father just got my mother a new Macbook Pro for Christmas. Now he didn't go all out on it but it's not one of the shittier ones. i5, 8GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, all that. So of course after opening it my mother needed me to update it and set it up for her, despite not having used OSX in like a decade. So I'm running updates and doing some basic shit and the fucker gets super hot. Like really hot. My 5 year old ASUS laptop doesn't get anywhere near that hot. Anyway, it made me feel like it's a cheap piece of shit that my dad got for like $1600

The fault of Apple's competitors is they make too much shit all over the board. Samsung has like ten fucking phones out and Dell makes hundreds of shitty laptops and maybe one or two good ones. Why? Apple has three models of laptops and that seems like their limit for at least awhile. Meanwhile every other company has hundreds of laptops being made with stupid number and letter names like "T23C-45" how are you gonna remember that?
OS X is also very pretty.

The default fan profile on the rMBP lets the CPU get really warm before kicking up the cooling fan, along with the fact that it's an aluminium case it gets pretty warm. smcfancontrol app is a definite must have.

Sadly, loonix doesn't compare to OS X. I dual boot Windows on my Macbook if I want to play Battlefield3 or other game that isn't too heavy. If I want to game seriously I use my desktop.

Data engineering student, I have an expensive Windows notebook that I use for occasional games at my college and for all heavy stuff and such, and I use this MacBook for basically everything else. At home I've got a pretty solid rig, so I really didn't have a lot of money to spend, so I bought this for roughly 100 quid, threw in a 1 TB HDD, some extra RAM, updated it and voila, it works perfectly.
