Is it possible/legal to make a router that transmits 4G signals that allows mobile devices to connect through 4G, and uses your own wired network for internet connectivity?

Sure
>get 4G hotspot and router with USB port
>plug hotspot into router
>set router to bridge hotspot connection

Yes

Nevermind, read your post wrong.
Open sauce 4G LTE is in the works though

Yeah I don't mind if it's GPRS either, just curious.
Just to clarify: I'm wanting to share a wired connection using 4g/3g/2g as an access point (for mobile devices)
so you want your wired connection to show as a discrete selectable telco in the network settings of your end device. oh oooooooo k

It's possible. Legal? Probably not.

Possible? Kinda. Legal? No
Continuation of possible: even assuming you do have your own tiny cell tower, you do not have any of the keys corresponding to your SIM card and your phone will not connect to it

Make your own sim card then. They are pretty much reverse engineered.

Depends if you are free to use those frequencies.

Sure, you just tether your phone or whatever 4G device you want to harness into a router with a USB port.
Best way is to buy a cheapo android phone, root it, get a 4G SIM, and tether it to become a router or bridge it to an existing one.
