It just works..

Lol
Free upgrade my ass...

Windows 10 is free because you're no longer the customer.
You're the product being sold.
The reason windows 10 has telemetry out the ass is to collect your personal information and sell it to data brokers like bluekai and acziom. Your data is worth a lot of money.
Which is why if you try and disable telemetry, you're taking windows without paying for it, essentially piracy.
>>
>>52096609
You are the product. It ain't free you gigantic moron.

What size tinfoil hats do you two knobjockeys wear?

You really think Microsoft wants to make money buy 'selling' your personal information? Seriously, where the fuck do clowns like you come from?

If what your saying is true (which it clearly isn't based on the fact that you both said it), then why does Microsoft still charge for licenses?

It was offered as a free upgrade to ensure market saturation. No one would've paid for an upgrade from 7/8/8.1

Fuck sake, get a fucken clue before you tout your bullshit. The real tragedy here is that morons like yourselves don't require any checks of licenses to breed.

Finally someone not retarded, however a major version upgrade it's still a free upgrade from a merchandise point of view, but you don't look that smart so let me dumb it down :

The product itself 'Windows 10' is not free (as it requires payment if purchased from a store). Microsoft have chosen to provide a free upgrade to users on previous versions of Windows.

Not sure what you're upgrading from, but in certain instances secure boot (I know) can cause this. It will eventually stop looping.

With 8.1 /2012 r2 and I think kb 3018029 secure boot on some Lenovos world cause similar failures. Look for the resolution in February's updates.

Business would flip if that was actually the case. A lot of finance still uses windows. If Microsoft was overtly spying on them they'd sue MS out of business. Enterprise is legit still.
>>

Why is there any reason to leave secure boot enabled?
>>
>>52097118
Yes, actually. It's part of the hardening process for edge iis, exchange, and lync / OCIM boxes.

Not so much from a desktop stand point though.
>>
>>52096859
It's practically the same thing. Make sure to do research before you install it, cause Debian doesn't support non-free hardware out of the box (http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/ is the link by the way) and you'll have to do a little rinkering if you want to use sudo. Other than that, it's pretty comfy.
>>
>>52096859

>>52097259 here.
Also remeber that if you want to add packages for the first time, su , thaen "nano /etc/apt/sources.list" and add main and contrib at the end of the sites given (non-free if you want any non-free stuff)
sorta like this:

deb http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free

You can be both the customer and the product. Look at television. People pay like $80 a month to be spammed with 10 minutes of commercials every 30 minutes.

The same tactics were cooked into the operating system.

xfce on its own is garbage. it was salvaged by xubuntu team which made it top tier DE.

Just go straight for Xubuntu and you won't have any problems. Xfce4 vanilla has lot of issues and missing features that will irritate you.

>>You really think Microsoft wants to make money buy 'selling' your personal information? Seriously, where the fuck do clowns like you come from?
Uh, because that's how 90% of the internet companies make their money nowadays?
How stuck in the 90s are you?

Where does google's money come from? Where does facebook's money come from?
It comes from user data.
Or magic fairies if you're you.

Microsoft is realising they fucked up by being stuck in the 90s. They're moving into the collect user's data market.
If you can't see this then you're pretty retarded.

Thank you all after I restarted the laptop it was OK but I don't have the time to examine the minidump.

I just finished installing Debian, I'm no stranger to Linux but thanks anyways for the repos. I just replaced with systemd and it's pretty functional.

As my main development machine I may have to keep windows on a VM because of my work, but other than that it's cool.

BTW I find funny how many people in G talk shit about stuff that is not even the main point... Or they give such an uninformed opinion.

I'm happy to see that the proprietary drivers installation on Debian is easier than some years ago, but having an ethernet cable is still a must lol.

Any good dock? I'm somewhat used to use Linux on terminal so... DE ricing is something unknown to me.

Thanks for the suggestions

And I forgot to say. What really irritates me is the unstable quality of Windows 10 I can't believe they shipped it as a stable product.

My hardware is not really bad nor old (lenovo y70), I did clean windows install taking advantage of the digital entitlement.

As I already made my mind with Debian I installed xface and KDE as desktops environments, last time I used GNU Linux for something other than server KDE v4 was my favorite, let's see what I like better. May try cinnamon as well looks like the bastard child of xface and KDE

You sign on that Windows is allowed to collect personal information and do what ever they want with it, including selling it. why wouldn't they sell it?

And with CISA they are not even legally required to even ask the user before collecting and selling information.

Charging for licenses is another source for income, why would they avoid it when people are willing to pay?
