My brother wants a pc so he can use unreal engine 4 and other 3d programs, thing is, prices are insane when it comes to Intel (Xenon) and Workstation GPUs, so i was thinking, a gaming gpu, 8gb ram and something like i5 or i7, would it be good enough to use programs like Ue4, Maya, etc?
So, i'm BR, it would be nice to have other Brazilians to discuss when we talk about prices. His budget go to 3k at max, (a hundred more or so would be okay) Can you guys help me?
Yeah a gaming GPU would be fine.
Be very careful with nvidia GPUs though, their high end cards have very little DP performance, they tuned for gaming.

What about AMD cards?

AMD cards are a lot better.
>>52084146
Fuck you, fag mofo
intall gentoo
>>52084164
They seem to be cheaper too. I guess, for an AMD gpu i'd better go with an AMD cpu too. A six core would suffice i guess.
>>52084140
AMD cards don't have a gimped DP performance.

kill your're selve

Could elaborate...? Just give us your opinion, it's welcome.

You probably don't want an AMD CPU. That'd not be so smart.
They're okay for highly threaded tasks but very little supports that.
Keep in mind CUDA too, AMD cards can't do that either.

So, as these 3d rendering programs are pretty cpu heavy, nvidia gpus (since they have the CUDA tech) would have an evident advantage.

While true, you need to check if you need DP performance, since if you do you will have to make sure you don't get a 900 series card.

fuck off to >>>/wsr/ and take the newfags in this thread with you
>>52084422
If I need, what series would you recommend? 600, 700, 800?
>>52084483
Oh, i forgot that Nvidia skipped 800.
>>52084422
BTW, i don't think Unreal Engine 4 works with double precision.
