What's your thoughts on compact PC's , you know , console PC's?

I think Valve started this with the SteamBox but they can run Windows 10 + Steam Big Picture Mode. There's already Alienware Steam Machines in Gamestop starting at $449
>>
I think it's great for gaming. It will light a fire under Microsoft , Sony and Nintendo with their AMD parts.
>>
Overpriced, overheating garbage.
>>
>>52083891
I prefer DIY, more room in there for better airflow and more flexible when it comes to upgrading.

Hell even building your own mini ITX sounds like a better idea. At the very least you know precisely what goes in there, especially the PSU.
>>
>>52083950

Idk about asus but the Alienware doesn't overheat. The Alienware Steam machine is now for sale in GameStop so you know it's going to be reliable
>>
>>52083996
You can build a gaymen mini-itx desktop for around $300 with more power than these pieces of shit. On top of this you can upgrade your mini-itx desktop whereas you're stuck with the same steamshit until you fork over $400-500 for a new one.

Pcpartpicker for the build?

Build it then on newegg. Cheaper than $449 and has a more powerful card than the Nvidia 860m and the Intel i3

I'm waiting...

>>52084119

Well that's not nice

SFF mini ITX builds were a thing long before that. Steam Machines just gave them more exposure.
>>
>>52084193

I hope you know the 860m is more powerful than the 950.

You also forgot the OS lol
>>
>>52084291

The 950's on par with the HD 7870.

The 860m is on par with the GTX480.

The 7870 is faster than the 480.

tldr you're a retard

>alienware steam machines
>i3-4170T, low-power laptop cpu - i'm willing to bet that it won't even beat phenom II X4 965 BE which was 'just enough' in ~2012
>"GTX GPU", can't even find which one is it and believe me, i tried

it's shit. i mean i understand that they're not aiming for 'my' kind of consumer and i'm sure as hell that thousands of retarded teenagers who wants to be the famed hurr durr pc mustard race will buy it, but seriously - it looks like severely overpriced shit.

but i really like how this shit allows me to play games without switching between systems. I'm enjoying divinity OS on my debian and it works way better than it worked on windows (although it's some kind of 'enchanced edition', they probably just optimized it)

>SFF mini ITX builds were a thing long before that. Steam Machines just gave them more exposure.

Valve's Steam machine was unique because it was the first computer to ever use a ribbon cable.
>>
>>52084247

sssssssh, Steam is revolutionary in every way and definitely not glorified DRM
>>
>>52084291
>You forgot the OS lol
This is in discussion of steamboxes, turbofaggot. SteamOS is free.
>860m is bullshit
Find me proof, and GPUBoss isn't proof.
Either way a R7 370 can be had for the same price, sub for that and you have no valid argument.
>>
>>52084358

The 950 should be faster than the 370, since they used the 7850's GPU in it rather than the 7870's.

The Powercolor R9 270 can be found for $109, which is as fast as the 950, if not faster.
>>
>>52084390
Ah. Good to know.
See none of this information is readily apparent to me as I am a paid NVIDIA shill.
>>
>>52084330

It's a custom 860m according to my sources

I keep tabs on both brands because fuck brand loyalty.
>>
>>52084417
Not bad anon.
If you used combo discounts from Newegg you could probably get it under $400.
>>
>>52084330
Don't forget:
>ROGshit box in OP pic uses proprietary PC, DC input, mobile GPU etc. so everything is proprietary
>Can't upgrade that shit
>DIY PC parts usually come with 2 or 3 year warranties versus what I assume is a 1 year warranty on the whole PC

Good luck trying to find a new PSU for that computer if the cable ends up frayed.

buildfags always chat shit and end up getting banged.

no you will never be able to build a console pc at a cheaper price than a regular console, maybe in two years but by then we would already have a ps5 that destroys your lego toys
>>
>>52084731

And after they get jizzed on they stop posting lol

Power supplies come with the cord
