Budgie is in the AUR if you use Arch.
>>
>>52084439
It is pretty lightweighted distro, it should be fine.
>>
>>52084822
What do I need to do to my xinitrc to start it up? I just installed from aur.

Kys, Johnny Foreigner.

Anyone else having issues with the 'set a password' part in the account setup after installing? No matter what password I enter it wont let me continue.

Is it bloated and system heavy as Mint?

So, every distro ever, pass.
>>
>>52085587
No, if anything it is very lightweighted compare to Mint.

is this based on anything? it says on their page that it's 'from scratch' and that they've 'made their own DE' but if i had a sterling for every time someone said that and it turned out they'd cludged something together with openbox and some shitty panel or whatever then i'd be rich
>>
>>52085659
its DE is based on gnome but they managed to create the core with scratch.

No thanks senpai
>>

>>Support can't compare to something like Debian, Arch or Gentoo
You can install it from AUR already
>>Uses Chrome
Actually it is installed firefox default, nice try anon
>>Doesn't respect my freedoms
You don't need to install non-free software or drivers, can use everything open source.
>>
>>52085659
It's entirely unique. I was using it until about a month ago and dropped it because I got sick of the tiny issues it had after updates. But,the devs over there really move to fix things quickly and are really cooperative given the responsibility they have.Definitely planning on trying it out again in a few months when things are more settled in.
>>
>>52085748
Why do these people insist on using the Gnome bloat? It has been proven that Gnome does not play nice with laptops and sucks the battery life like a dirty whore.

Any other base could have been tolerable.
>>
>>52085748
>You can install it from the AUR already
No, you can install their "DE" from the AUR.
>Actually it is installed firefox default
From all of the screen shots I have seen they seem to only have Chrome installed.
>You don't need to install non-free software or drivers
Because Chrome is totally free
>>
>>52083376
>not rolling release
>not based on any other distro so support is minimal
>obscure package manager no one's ever heard of just for the sake of being different
>can just install budgie if I wanted to pretend to use their OS without compromising the features offered by more mature, better supported distros

I'll stick to openSUSE Tumbleweed with i3, thanks.

>>52085748
DE =/= OS

If it can't be completely loaded into 1GB of RAM it's SHIT

Solus totally have chrome

>Gnome does not play nice with laptops and sucks the battery life like a dirty whore.
I get virtually the same battery life from Gnome as I do i3 WM or any other DE or WM I've ever tried. That list includes KDE, Openbox, Unity, Mate, XFCE.
>>
>>52085883
Damn, son. That's a really clean i3 setup.
Could you post your config files somewhere please?
>>
This distro makes me laugh hard as they made it to show off their gnome extension plugin. Bigest cancer of lunix: "hey ive got this nice idea to improve existing project, let's make it separate project"

My only machine is an ancient lenovo W700. Video card is Quadro FX 3700M.

Drivers were easy. Just follow https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_the_hard_way

>log out

>control+alt+f1

>sudo zypper install -t pattern devel_C_C++ devel_kernel

>sudo su

>killall lightdm

>echo "blacklist nouveau" >> /etc/modprobe.d/50-blacklist.conf && mkinitrd && reboot

>log out

>control+alt+f1

>sudo su

>killall lightdm

>sh /path/to/nvidia/drivers.run

>mkinitrd

Every time the kernel updates you'll have to do the following steps again:

>log out

>control+alt+f1

>sudo su

>killall lightdm

>sh /path/to/nvidia/drivers.run

>mkinitrd
