Please use cout when dealing with strings. Dealing with the assumption that 1 character of a string is equal to 1 byte is not a good practice is today's world of Unicode. Cout does not make this assumption in its implementations. Printf will make this assumption.

"cout" is Console Output
So basically she's outputting the word "Block" in console.

You could make the argument that she's actually trying to assign values, and then assign the variable a different value if the first assignment fails (the if block will return false if the value isn't initialized, after all).

However she used a different variable in the second if block, so it overall makes zero sense.

I often recite something like this to people who say programming is easy:

Programming is a lot like math. Math has very simple functions, such as addition or multiplication. But there is also very hard applications of math, such as Thermodynamics or Fluid Dynamics. Don't judge programming based on what you see from the trends. Programming isn't just some HTML tutorial from Khan academy, just like math isn't just addition and subtraction.
>>

Shit anon, you're trying too hard
>>
>>52076482
>math
>not just applied addition and subtraction
>>
>>52075045
>/g/irl
>>
>>52076482
Math is the creative application of mathematical logic to your data. You need a certain amount of creativity to prove that a mathematical idea is logically consistent within the rules of mathematics. Programming is similar in that regard in which you need a certain amount of creativity and logic to solve programming problems.
>>
>>52076482
I usually tell people the same thing. Programming is actually way more difficult than mathematics
>>
>>52076539
And this is why I love programming. For all the headaches I get and sperglords I deal with, I genuinely love sitting down at work, and working on my project. Programming is problem solving; it's one giant puzzle you need to assemble, usually with super vague implementation details. And in order to succeed, you need to be creative in the way you solve things. If you're writing something to fit into an existing machine of cogs, you need to juggle other API calls, different languages, hardware, and other needs. FUCK, I love what I do.

how can that be? don't you realise that mathematics is the foundation of computer science and information theory?

computer scientists are mathematicians. software engineers are programmers, and /g/, is a bunch of script kiddies, including yourself.

you couldn't design a type system if i slapped you in the face with SICP until you were black and blue. but any computer scientist who's first an foremost a mathematician, applying his knowledge to the solution of the problem (making electricity do useful stuff) and programming is the means of doing that. if you have this mathematical perspective, then programming is child's play (which it is, which is why you think it's so easy)

And this is why you should think I'm cool. For all the stuff you've probably heard about over the years as an outsider, I, as an insider genuinely love doing this vague thing, and working on vagueness because I don't really have the knowledge to go into meaningful detail. Programming is vagueness; it's one annunciation you need oversimplify, usually with ironic use of the word vagueness. And here's a tidbit to trick you into thinking I'm competent, since you're an outsider, and I'm a poser, you need to be COOL AS FUCK when you want to seem like you have an air of mystique about you. If you're woah boy, look how hard and complex this crazy computer magic can get, you need to look at me look at me i know bombastic terms!, and I know how to bullshit to make myself seem cooler than I really am. FUCK, I love being a kuck.

Much like the DJ/Producer of yesteryear, programming, aka "making apps" has become this season's must-have personality accessory.

That's actually a pretty well worded way of putting it. The author doesn't go on a holier-than-thou rant about how someone is being a cis-gendered cunt and close-minded. It's a pragmatic explanation and response to incredulous remarks about something they like to do. The author isn't saying 'EVERYONE SHOULD LOVE TO HAVE A FLACCID PENIS IN THEIR CROTCH WHAT ARE YOU A BIGOT?', but 'Yeah it's different but it's what I like and my partner likes so I dig it.'

It's weird as absolute shit but the author presents it about as well as you possibly could. Credit where it's due.

I've never worked with Java extensively, but I think that this annotation is just for automatic insertion for the dependency injection component, so you don't need to configure it seperately.

You'd need something like project lombok to actually generate getters and setters.

Are...are you stupid? The autowire is there so that you don't have to create explicit wiring through xml (automatically injects dependencies instead of explicit properties for the bean). And yes, you do need a setter for private member variables numb nuts.
This code is obviously satire:
1) Util class is not static, not to mention it is an implementation of an interface (of a util class lol)
2) Each dependency could just be a method
3) Spring is used in this example
>>
>>52076334
>\n instead of endl
The two are not compatible, your code is not compatible.
>>
>>52078459
what?

if your question was supposed to read "what do I put for the buffer to use this", then I'll explain.

_write() takes three arguments:
1: The file to write to.
2: The buffer to write.
3: The number of bytes to write.
The first argument has to be a file descriptor, the second has to be a series of bytes, and the third has to be an integer.

Here's some common FDs:
0 is stdin
1 is stdout
2 is stderr

So to print "Hello, world!" to stdout using _write, it's just:
_write(1,"Hello, world!",13);

syscall(1) is exactly the same - write is syscall 1 on 64-bit linux, and syscall 4 on 32-bit linux. So it's basically just like writing assembly, except automated: instead of moving values into the right register and then linking to the kernel, C does all of it for you:
syscall(1,1,"Hello, world!",13);

This code essentially calls syscall 1 with the arguments "1,'Hello, world!',13". Because syscall1 is print, this prints "Hello, world!" to FD1 (stdout) with 13 bytes of data.

C++ can be written like C, in which case it's concise but pointless. You can also write code that is similar to Java or C#, but to do so takes a lot more effort. Basically, by the modern era, it's a shitty attempt to do what other languages do better.

A classic example is the need to write a "copy constructor." Look it up if you like, but tl;dr is that because of the manual memory management, you have to jump through a bunch of hoops before you even start implementing the actual functionality you intend.

Also, the controversial new-ish specification for C++ includes a bunch of stuff that essentially brings it on par with managed languages, except that it's still more verbose. Again, more effort for the same payoff.

Java has its own problems of course, a lot of them "best practices," but it's probably not as awful as C++. I actually would rather work in C++ than Java, but that's just a personal hatred for Java.

It is, I used to be like this.
I'll try to analyze it based on my own experience:
I was an insecure kid online, dumb one too. I never told anyone I was hispanic for fear of them being racist. Kept my name a secret, kept location a secret when I could even though I live in California, US. It's known to have a lot of Mexicans though for anyone who tries to stalk you. So I guess I was paranoid online which caused me to overanalyze every single sentence that was sent to me in case they were close to finding out who I was.
After I while I stopped caring since not many people asked for real names and at most location. I got into a lot of internet arguments and kept race, etc out of it. After all those arguments I started looking at comments as hostile. Basically my brain scanned a comment to see if it was hostile first, and then if it wasn't second. Most of them contained a lot of hostile keywords so I might have mistook them for being hostile.
In that screenshot I can tell that she felt embarrassed. She tried to sound technical like others do when they declare bugs etc, but someone told her all chill that nothing was wrong and she might be mad(notice he wasn't hostile). She took him as being hostile because he proved her wrong(that's how I see conversations from years of arguments). The first reply showed that she had no intention of being rude and she saw him as being rude hence the 'not be blocked'(-) and the 'talk down to me...'(+). In the next comment she tried to prove her worth by stating she was a software engineer because she was so mad that he didn't reply fast, or had one or more things to say
