Adblocker blocking scripts are just one step away from view-to-access. Prove me wrong.
>>
>>52069460
I'm fine with not accessing it if they insist on serving malicious privacy harming tracker adverts.

I'll get the info elsewhere.
>>
>>52069460
wtf is view to access, you mean pay to access?

when i see that i disable my adblocker, and manually block ads with noscript

git gud

and if that doesnt work then i just dont use the site, unless the ads are non intrusive
>>
>>52069484
This.
>>
>>52069460
do you mean pay-to-view/pay-to-access? view-to-access doesn't make sense.
it's actually worse than that. instead of just saying they want money, they try to make money by selling their users to dirty advertisers. disgusting.
if i see a site doing this, i'll never visit that site again.

1) Stop using such sites at first place
2) Activate Anti-Adblock Killer https://github.com/reek/anti-adblock-killer

Makes you wonder why Tomorrow is not the default theme already

lol
next they will develop anti-anti-adblock
>>
>>52069543
This, or just use a DNS that blocks ad domains.
>>
>>52069592
shit, i was only posting because i had the same ad as anon

i thought it was default, i've been using it for so long

>>
>>52069572
In that case it's not one step away, we're there already.

adblock banned = view ads to access
>>
>>52069460
This is what I worry about. If too many people start using Adblock on YouTube, the monthly subscription thing will become commonplace
>>
>>52069629
>YouTube
cancer
>>
>>52069629
I have no problem with youtube red. If normies want to pay for not getting ads, so be it. I'll keep using blockers.
>>
it gets worse
>>
>>52069629
>the monthly subscription thing will become commonplace
Like USA Only Youtube Red?
>>
>>52069460
You're right.

Adblocking blocking scripts are failing monumentally. The next step for sites will be to require payments for content, which will result in the vast majority that implement them dying.

And then the Internet will suddenly be a better place.
>>
>>52069460
how does the website know you're using adblock/ublock/etc?
>>
I only block ads on 4chan
>>
This only happens to people stupid enough to use browser-specific ad blockers
>>
>>52070349
same

i turn off my adblocker on Reddit though, they deserve the money

Daily reminder to require ad blockers on your site

>>
>>52069460
There's nothing wrong with a paywall. It's a legitimate form of paying for services.

Websites with ads on them are either in denial that they are a business or are fully aware that they're a business, and know that their product is you.
>>
>>52070409

>>
>>52070409
i should really try this. and block chrome too.
>>
>>52069484
This I'll gladly block their website to prevent anyone on the network from giving them views as well.
>>
How do adblockers actually notice an ad?
What if I just put a picture with a link to my sponsors site on my site without any tracker aids in it?
>>
>>52070545
>>52070554
>block chrome
Pls no. I have umatrix set to randomly spoof my user agent and some of the agents I pick from are Chrome agents to blend in better
>>
>>52070638
I believe they target the domains that redirect you to ads, as there are only so many of those.

I may be completely wrong about that, though.
>>
>>52070341
pls respond!
>>
>>52069460
these thing work by detecting a useragent right? so then I'm still fine blocking via hostfile
>>
>>52070729
they check if the ads are loading
>>
>>52070757
>useragent

Nah, they see if certain ads are loading.
>>
>>52070757
>these thing work by detecting a useragent right?
How the fuck would that tell them if an ad blocker is in use?
>>
Holy shit there are a lot of retards in this thread
>>
>>52070785
don't useragents carry info about your addons/plugins?
>>
>>52070757
>>52070341
They check if the ad resource (usually a picture or css element like div) is loaded or not with javascript, it doesn't matter if you use an adblock extension or a hostfile. uBlock Origin can selectively block inline javascripts to counter that.

>>52070638
Blocklists for dynamic ad providers (shit like adwords), usually locally served and static ads won't be in those lists (unless your site grows big and somebody anal submits your ad pic to the blocklist)
>>
>>52070807
No?
>>
>>52070807

What? No.
>>
>>52070780
>>52070811
thank you
>>
>>52070828
>>52070834
then how do sites like panopticlick work?
>>
>>52070899
They check things with javascript.
>>
>>52070914
ah, I see
>>
>>52070899

Javascript gives a lot of information away.
>>
>>52069460

>block element.
>>
>>52070899
they use JS to check for certain plugins. this isn't a 100% accurate method though.
also doesn't work for add-ons. best they could do is a "i guess adblock is enabled because this ad didn't load" kind of thing.
>>
>>52069484
Exactly this.
If they didn't started putting ads everywhere ruining the user experience in the internet we wouldn't have created ad blockers.

A fucking porn site like xhamster or xvideos have less ads than a regular website.
>>
>>52070957
so much this.

i can follow a link to a news story on ap news and look at ublock orgin and it will be blocking 28 items.
28 items for a 4 paragraph news story.
>>
>>52069614
lol
next they will develop ant-anti-ant-andblock
>>
>>52070409
Please let this be a thing lol. Take your sidesin the adblock war!

What's a good ad blocker for iOS?
Currently using 1Blocker, but YouTube video refuse to play in browsers.

Any adblockers to bypass that? Also uBlock Origin for iOS when?
>>
Honeslty, if every website only used banner ads that don't track, I'd be ok with them. But someone thought it would be a good idea to make flash and video ads with no way to mute or stop the video when I try to read the news.

I don't buy febreeze anymore after that shit.

my site is ad-free, been hosting it for close to 15 years

im not a jew/poorfag so i dont see the need to make others pay to view my content

fuck what the internet has become, money-grabbing cunts, time to create a new network, one seperate from corporate shills and fucking faggots
>>
When a site does that I set the tab on autoreload and put it away for the rest of the day to waste more traffic than I would by using the site

more people should do this
>>
>>52069460
You can just use noscript to disable said script.
>>
>>52069460

there are already ways to do this, Pintrest does it easily

you can ublock the overlay an shit but it still wont keep scrolling down till you sign up to the site

pornhub an other sites start throttling your player if it detects adblockers

but yes, this can easily be blocked if sites start to stop caring about backlash or bad press for "user experiences"
>>
>>52069629

oh no i cant see pewdiepie's youtube series cause its only on RED

also 99% of streamesrs on youtube or twitch or anywhere else get direct donations, or have patreon pages or other gofundme type stuff

the fucking YT RED deal is actually pointless to giving money to anyone, even totalcancer talked at length about it once he saw the specifices, before initially trying to defend it as "now everyone benifits"

and instead it was really just more "who ever gets more views gets more % even if you dont even subscribe to them)
>>
If they manage to get past anti-adblock killer and noscript I'll be impressed, disgusted, and leave them be.
