I use non-apple devices.
What you need for core:
1. Crunch
2. Twist Crunch
3. Reverse Crunch (with straight legs into a 90 degree position)
4. Extension exercise (with hands behind your neck) equal to the number of ab reps in total that you did
5. Wide pushups (chest)
6. Narrow pushups (arms)
7. Jumping squats
8. Mountain Climbing (best exercise there is in existence apart from jumping squats and pullup variations if you can do pullups)
9. Pullup variations
10. Sucking cock for neck exercises (/fit/ mandatory special)

I've gone through pilates. 10 times the work for less effect, or in other words a waste of time that could be more efficient.
Those 9 exercises are what gave better effect out of personal experience. Only when i started doing this shit have i finally neared the threshold of being able to do proper pullups in a timely manner. Fuck pilates.

pilates is about 300% better at targeting obliques. Not much other hard data on it but it's generally accepted as better than yoga for core strength. I obviously do cardio as well. I'm just starting pilates to strengthen core as i have a bad lower back and my posture is getting a bit bad. I'll move on to glamour muscles later on maybe, but mine are already nice from playing sport
