Xubuntu first and when you are ready, move to Arch Linux. This is the only acceptable path for newbie.

All these new distros are just fragmenting the ecosystem and unsupported by most Windows applications. Best to go with Debian/Ubuntu flavors with Xfce to minimize issues.
