HD558. To amp or not to amp? What is the minimum amp that I should get that will scale well with an upgrade to the HD6xx series in the future?

I've been having problems find an audio switch. I would like to be able to switch between my headphones and speakers at the turn of a dial. However I can't really find anything that'll let me do that. If you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Preferably <$40
>>
>>52058881
AD900X has weak bass and flat impedance from 20Hz to 20kHz IIRC.

HD598 is more neutral but sounds a tiny bit muddy around 150-200Hz, it also is a bad load for any high impedance output due to it having a rise in the impedance around 100Hz IIRC.
>>
>>52058881
AD900X
>>
>>52058883
neither. akg k612
>>
>>52058907
>>52058912
So AD900X would sound clearer for music? I'm coming from a pair of AD700X if that makes any difference.

What about comfort? The AD700X isn't bad, but the flap design is fucking annoying and makes it hard to take the headphones on/off constantly. The HD598 looks far more comfortable with the leather headband and oblong earcups.
>>
>>52058831
>defend them!
At this time id rather not bother.
>>
>>52058934
AD900X is clearer but less accurate if that makes sense. I prefer the HD598 as I value fidelity.

In my opinion, the AD900X and AD700X are too similar and it's not worth owning both, I'd just go for the HD598 or HD558 if you want to save money as it's the same thing.

Easy, look at the 558 or 598. People will call me a shill but they're perfect if you don't like too much bass and you want a very neutral sound. Though EDM is bass-heavy music so you'd be hearing the mids come through much more than the fist-pumping bass...

Acoustic instruments sound incredible, especially when paired with vocals and soft percussion in singer-songwriter type songs. Just get whichever one you can afford.

Interesting, If it uses the TI part that I first looked at. I will have to look for measurements. My reasoning behind not wanting a Shiit product dates back to when their amplifiers had no protection for the headphones and were seriously damaging headphones, I forget the name of this protection, probably output, but there should still be a video of one of their amplifiers just about making a AKG701 pop (read: explode). Yes, yes, they have supposedly rectified this but I will never trust them.
>>

>cant tell the difference between it and my cellphone

>>
Opinions on the S400?
>>
>>52059665
Yeah I may just get the HD800 instead and try modding them to my liking. Bill's mods seem promising and being a speaker person, comfort on headphones is extremely important. The only headphones I've tried that beat my DT880 are the HD800 but the stock sound makes them unbearable and not worth the asking price.

Marv says the HD800 driver doesn't have a problem, but you can still see a little peaking from his own raw driver measurement.

Well, he also mentioned the 3.0 may not be properly fitted.
Anyway, Marv thinks Anax is insane and unhiniged, stuff about Anax running off with cash, so that isn't going to happen.
New series of mods picking up where 3.0 left off.
>>
>>52059541
These actually sound really cool. I might get them over modding a DT880.
The mids/highs are still good though, right? I'm coming from AD700s, so I love my treble, but having something with some bass sounds really nice.

Anyone know if these are Takstar Pro80 clones? I mean the exterior is clearly the same except for the earpads but the specs seem different.

I don't blame him. Anax thinks his HD800 setup destroys any speaker setup which is laughable to say the least.

Dude nice find. I think this can be a solid go-to rec for people asking about "gaming headphones" under $100 assuming they haven't tampered with the driver.
>>
>>52060096
Actually looking at some customer photos the ear opening in the pads seems to be quite a bit smaller than the HM5 pads so they must just be clones as well.
>>
>>52060064
X2's are wonderful but there's a big manufacturing problem occurring right now. If you get headphones that have greyish earpads rather than pitch black then there is a chance the earpads are glued on. Might want to return them if that's the case.

I would say Head'n'Hifi. Stefan (the guy who runs it) was actually the one who found the loophole in the license and made the first O2 with the RCA outputs and 1/4" jack. (JDSLabs reps actually mention this in a video) He also has really good prices on the limited edition models.

I can't comment on JDSLabs as I haven't had a look inside one of their models but I can safely recommend avoiding Mayflower after the shit I've been linked to coming from the Tek Syndicate guys.

The Element is kinda disappointing if you don't have a preamp since the RCA outputs are line level. Otherwise you can basically see it as a more powerful O2/ODAC combo with a nicer chassis.
>>
>>52060224
Forgot to mention, the Massdrop O2/ODAC are probably the best value, especially since they were pressured into using legit components as per the BOM. Though it's still put together in China so if you're not up for that the other options are better.

It should be JDS for the states and Head'n'Hifi in Europe/anywhere that isn't close to the states imo.

CT-H02 is a rebrand of the Tascam TH-02. It's cheaper usually and no It's not fragile. The Tascam TH-02 has been compared to the M50X though it's obviously of cheaper build quality than the M50X. The comfort the headphone is shit though (just like the m50x). The only one I actually have experience with is the Takstar 2050. It's amazing for the price.

The CT-H2000 but it's supposedly similar sounding but tweaked more towards bassheads and dj's rather than studio headphones. Really depends what kind of sound signature you like.

It wasn't even that long ago that those didn't exist. Detachable cables are apparently a luxury and they use it to market those headphones.

>>

I can confirm this, but its just hot glue, so its easily removed. Also there are no stock pads for sale so you would have to go after market to rig something. But Imo due to the sound, the X2s are well worth it, and overall build is the most solid on the planet.

If it's being streamed then yes, it's fucking stupid. If it's your own archive on your own machine then it's fine.
