Your computer keyboard isn't a touch screen. Why reject objectively superior physical keyboards on a phone, Anons?
>>
>>52053308
because its nearly 2016 and no one wants to deal with a clunky ass keyboard taking up space.
>>
>>52053308
Because there are no ones left, on devices that aren't shit that is.
>implying I don't still have a qwerty phone from 2011
If RAM wasn't so small it would still be a beast
>>
Because I don't type long texts or write documents on my smartphone and neither do most people so software keyboards suffice?
>>
>>52053345
>muh space
Where do you live that you worry about space so much? India?
>>
>>52053353
>he types "yolo swag" on SnapChat all day long
>>
>>52053308
Actually I like physical keyboards on phones, sadly there is no one worthy.
>>
>>52053353
That still leaves at least
>web addresses
>videogames
>shell scripts
Plus you could set up Tasker to answer the phone by sliding out.
>>
>>52053308
A physical keyboard on my desktop allows me to touch type using 9 fingers efficiently. I would still be using two thumbs to type on a phone keyboard either way, and in fact physical keyboards are slower because of the added time for the key to depress and come back up.
>>
Because I am a human male with normal testosterone levels and hands that are large regardless of my current weight, and nobody makes a hard keyboard to fit me. They're all for puny nerds, so i have to use swype and a stylus for maximum efficiency and minimum typoes.
>>
>>52053308
lets just wait for apple to start making keyboard attachments for their phones then other companies will follow suit
>>
>>52053345
It still takes up space if it's virtual
>>
>>52053410
>typoes

:^D
>>
>>52053410
>normal test makes tactile coordination difficult
That should be making all women master hackers then.
>>
Swipe text + a well taught built in dictionary > physical phone keyboards any day.

I used to think that physical keyboards were amazing too until I got used to touchscreen typing. It's not even a comparison. Also

>Typing reports/anything other than the occasional text/web address

If you're typing that much it's called a fucking laptop. Not to mention if you're texting that much to a person, just call them.
>>
>>52053382
>videogames

Just get out

>shell scripts

Who writes/uses shell scripts on their fucking phone?

Face it. Nobody needs your 2008 technology these days, all they do is drive up the price and make the phone more clunky

Yeah sorry, I forgot that advanced smartphones of 2015 are only usable for watching Youtube and taking photos for instagram.
>>
>>52053483
I really want to see one of these IRL so I can laugh out loud within its owner's hearing range
>>
>>52053483
that's actually pretty cool. If you can customize the layout of what is on screen, I would love to see how functional it is in day to day work.
>>
Because I type so much faster and accurately on a keyboard.

Keyboards were and are hell to type on phones.
>>
>>52053582
>forced to stare at your keyboard as you type
I'd quit if I was given that monstrosity
>>
>>52053670
He's probably one of those hunt and peckers.
>>
>>52053670
Why would you have to stare at your keyboard? I mean with a keyboard in a static position, wouldn't it be the same as a regular keyboard or that physical act of pressing a key is what allows for touch typing?

>>52053679
and no I'm not
>>
>>52053731
Try typing a sentence on an iPad or something without looking and see why it doesn't work

I own this, it's a terrible laptop in all aspects! The touchscreen has ghosting issues, multi-touches never register and weighs more than any laptop I've ever held.
>>
>>52053308

He tried to warn the normalfags, they didn't listen. Although the latest priv is android, I respect BB for not totally giving up on physical keyboards.
>>
but my computer keyboard is a touchscreen
>>
>>52053308
if only Black Berry had put the priv's keyboard sideways.....
>>
>>52053308
Is that a fucking N950? I had my N900 until it broke and Nokia refused to repair it. It's a damn shame they stopped making good phones, Nokia used to be GOAT tier.
>>
>>52053308
I love physical keyboards so much I put a deposit down on a neo900

I'm hoping google rolls out some back cover for the Nexus 5X (and nexus models in general) that has a keyboard. The Nexus 5X is already thin as fuck, it could be twice as thick and still be thin. Could have a sliding querty keyboard that attaches to the backside of the phone. Make it out of aluminium so it doesn't snap like plastic shit.

Because typing on a physical keyboard would be slower for a phone and my thumbs would get tired faster.

Pic related typing test I did yesterday on my phone. No auto-correct, no swype bullshit either.
>>

truly the best argument
>>
>>52053308
> Having to flip my phone horizontally every single time just to type

The best thing Is a slide out gamepad.
>>
>>52057441
Holy fuck, and using only index fingers.

I guess touchtyping is a thing of the past.

Honestly, if I had a chance to pay extra for something like the N900(because I like the usability of a big screen on a phone, but I fucking hate touch screen typing)

Not only that but you can't really use your phone without looking at it. I remember way back when I had my last phone with a physical keyboard(qwerty also) and I could do EVERYTHING while having it in my pocket.

Now I can't do basic things with my 1520(yeah windows phone)

I can you fucking idiot. But can you open specific documents without looking at your phone(and having it in your pocket)? Or send a fucking text?

But this idiot in the pic clearly fucking looks at the system keyboard to type.
>>
>>52057866
Not him but why would you need to type or use your phone in your pocket? Are you autistic or underage in middle school?
>>
>>52053308
because it can't transform
>>
>>52057904
Because why not? I was able to do that with 'normal' phones and I can't do that with touch.

Not only that but workspace is fucking crippled by touch and ui/ux made for touch is fucking shitty. (it's the same with every top-end smartphone)
>>
>>52057949 <<
on physical i can't customize key layout.

and with visual keyboards, i can.
>>

making new phones approximately 3mm thin is what reduces battery size.

it is. But since all good mobile OSes died, it's all we have left. Although you can still buy the last few good BB devices with a proper OS. Unfortunately, all with fixed keyboards, no sliders.
>>
>>52058279
no, it increases thickness.
And phones are already too thin to be comfortable, so a bit more thickness = good.
BB Priv has 3410 mAh battery, it's not amazing, but good enough.

You insufferable faggot, we don't want thicker phones. It's because of old timers like you that we still have to deal with fucking brick phones.
>>
>2015
>not using shf31/shf32/sh06g/504sh
>>
>>52058351
yeah, yeah, I know.
We all want phones that break easily, last 15 minutes on a battery and are uncomfortable to hold. Razor sharp edges would also be a plus, but let's wait for apple to introduce them first before other manufacturers jump on board.
Also, despite making phones 0.03 mm thin and with no battery, let's not forget to still design them in a way that prevents them from fitting comfortably in a pocket! Now that's progress!

Do the Q10 buttons work on vidyagayme emulators? inb4 manchild, no shit senpai
>>
>>52058842
Depends on the emulator, but it's possible. It's hit or miss with Android emulators but the keyboard does work with BB10OS native RetroArch
>>
>>52058871
How about PPSSPP? I've owned the Q10 for about 2 days and didn't manage to get it working, is there a fix?
>>
>>52053308
I don't really know, i'd love a physical keyboard but i can think of at least 3 things that would make me lean more for the touchscreen (on a phone obviously).
>Less prone to breaking
>Can customize it
>The phone would take less space
But nothing feels better than to know exactly what you're pressing instead of relying on autocorrectors and being careful not to misstype

If i were to choose i'd take the physical but no one puts them on their phones without making them insanely expensive
>>
>>52053466
Eh, I use swipe text all the time and it gets really awkward after ten or so characters.
>>
>>52058889
I don't have any PSP games downloaded to fully test the app but I just installed it and can at least map the keyboard
>>
>>52058927
>Less prone to breaking
Dunno m8, touchscreens are also quite breakable and with a physical at least you have a backup option
>>
>>52058927
>>52058985
Also
>Can customize it
You can also customize a physical if you have root, by editing the keylayout files. IIRC you could also assign Tasker functions on it, though I might be wrong on this one.

>>
>>52053308
All blackberry had to do was combined their trackpad keyboard with the word predictor in a way that consistently worked and it would have been so much better. As always, the people of blackberry fucked up what could have been a great idea with their stupidity.

Still, the Passport is great. Not awesome, but great. The inbuilt auto correct and shorthand list makes it easier, but I am still disappointed with their implementation of the keyboard.
