How would you have stopped WOPR (War Operation Plan Response) /g/ ?

literally this.
>>52053187
Unplugging the WOPR would have signaled all over interconnected defense systems as the destruction of NORAD, initiating WW3.
>>52053212
"Hey we just got a signal that you were destroyed, are you still there?"
"Yeah man, we just had to unplug the WOPR."
"Ah, k."

Disable all nuclear systems so that even if the launch code was given nothing would happen.
go to mcdonalds instead
Pass on a sparkplug

Set him up on a blind date with Johnny 5. Love conquers all.
>>52053793
Great Idea! That way, it wont be able to do anything!
>>52053168
Make the faggot turn the key next time
Really the whole thing was his fault
Also military fucked up by allowing a backdoor, find it hard to believe that considering Falken was retired
>>52056337
Joshua and Johnny 5? That's gay which wasn't socially acceptable during the 80s.
>>52056705
They had no idea that the backdoor existed. So despite what Jim told Mr. Potatohead, some backdoors are secret.
>>52058904
This code HAS to be audited/reviewed or something though? I mean I know the military fucks up stuff all the time but at the height of the nuclear cold war you'd think they'd be more on top of it
>>52058876
numbah 5 is aaaalive
>>52053342
>- whoah those are launch codes
>- WHAT ARE THEY FOR?
wow.
>>52053168
>How would you have stopped WOPR (War Operation Plan Response) /g/ ?
I wouldn't.
Let the world burn.
>>52059081
Falken invented an AI smarter than anything we have even today. The only person qualified to review the code would have been Falken.
>>52059081
>This code HAS to be audited/reviewed or something though?
Yeah, by whoever was the lowest bidder for the job.
>>52053212
Not a problem as the NORAD II would have been able to help.
>>52059618
She wasn't hired for her brain.
>>52059661
Maybe they got the same good ol' boys working out of a strip mall in Alabama that reviewed the voting machine source code to also review our nuclear launch system.
Wish I was kidding about the voting machines but they really did get some random smucks in 'Bama to verify the fairness of the code.
>>52059699
She did think love was the reason why nitrogen nodules cling to the roots of plants.
>>52059658
This. Basically tell the computer it can't exist because the cpu isn't fast enough for AI in the 1980's.
Just out of curiosity, the final scene in the movie where it goes through every possible situation, I remember it called them well named things. Was there ever a document or actual plan with the ways it could play out or were those too just made up for the movie and I've been trolled?
Simple.
Notify the missile crews at all relevant facilities and tell them to mechanically disable the rockets. WOPR can't do shit if all the rockets have been disarmed.
>>52059949
in the movie they remove manual control of the rockets
also they didn't have time
>>52059928
The real life military likely had dozens if not hundreds of such scenarios already war gamed but the writers of the movie would not have had access to them so the list you see is a guess.
>>52059949
This is specifically addressed in the movie when Pat Healy says there isn't enough time before the missiles launch.

Why would I?
