Linux is garbage for the exception of 2, maybe 3 distros out there. Besides for servers, Linux has very little use unless you are running programs that are open source. Most Linux alternatives are inferior to their Windows-based counterparts. First of all, Linux is a kernel. It's pretty unlikely you would be able to run ANY games with just a kernel, you probably need an OS. Or did you mean GNU/Linux?
Second of all, neither GNU or Linux are inherently commercial products, they don't have "market share." No one is going to spend a bunch of money and miraculously everyone is using GNU/Linux. If you want to make it more popular, you can lead by example and delete windows, even if it means you have to ditch your windows games.
