.sys files... that sounds like Windows, in that case I can't help you. In Linux it's just changing a text file.

>>52052403
You don't believe me what? That I can't help you changing sys files? I have never done it before.
Doing it on linux is just changing a textfile... Or even easier with 'xmodmap' (if you only want to assign up to 4 button presses) you just write
xmodmap -e keycode 81 = g G g G
And the keycode can be found with a program named 'xev'. It might be something other than 81, i am not sure what 81 is.
>>52052942
You can also make buttons produce strings like
xmodmap -e keycode 88 = "emacs "
to make F12 write "emacs ". Or whatever. just read the man page for xmodmap

>>52053067
and why can't I do this with windows?
>>52053108
It's proprietary, they won't let you do everything. You might be able to do more if you buy the pro or enterprise version of Windows. Or else you have to rely the drivers from the manufacturer to do these things.
>>52053108
Post more
>>52053108
Windows is proprietary and closed source. A lot of the operating system files are locked down and not human readable, or read-only to everyone no matter what you do.
I'm not saying it isnt possible, but its unlikely.

Linux is programmed in C, but there are programs that might be programmed in other languages. There is no defined language that Linux uses.
