ok so you waste 2 dollars more per month in electricity with amd.

but you get jewed with 3.5gb meme cards
>>
>>52046217
>per month
More like per year
>>
>>52046217
Even in the US the kWh is about 0.15 $

300 W * 30 day * 0.15$/kWh = $32 / month
or $390 / year

Are you running Furmark on your card 24/7?

Average gaming load for the Fury X is 220W. If you game 6 hours a day on average that's 5.94$ month.
Average gaming load for a 980 Ti is 200W. If you game the same 6 hours a day for a month, it'll cost you 5.40$ per month.
That's a difference of 54 cent, and thus negligible.
>>
>>52046271
>he runs his card 100% max load 24/7

muh sides nvidiafags are desperate

gtx970 is 3.5gb and not dx12 compatible

stay mad

i just bought a 980 ti, did i fall for a meme?
>>
>>52046570
Yes and no.
It's a great card that overclocks well. Said overclocking is what gives it an edge over the Fury X, nowadays they perform equal at stock speeds. It however also makes it consume more power than the Fury X.
However, given Nvidia's history, it'll certainly fall behind the Fury X, and will need its OC to keep up with a stock Fury X.
980 Ti will give you more Day 1 drivers for new games, and thus often perform better in the first days or weeks after a game's release.
Fury X will last you much longer, GCN will recieve full support for a long time to come, and it'll likely end up the same as the 7970, and 290X, which just continue to get better and better.

Peak power draw is irrelevant. However since everyone in this thread except >>52046195
is retarded they would not know that.

Average is all that matters for your psu.

Shill site and fake, GTX970 uses HALF the power at WORST against AMD Hawaii HOUSEFIRE hot garbage without DX12.1, drivers, HDMI 2.0 HEVC 10bit decoding!

You're right, it IS a shill site. The reality is much worse for Nvidia.

Yeah, they hate AMD with a burning passion and even they can't get good results for Nvidia.

For you want power efficiency why don't you just get a laptop?
>>
>>52047588
Not everyone has a huge house to put their overheating AMD HOUSEFIRE garbage case.
>>
>>52047608
Aren't you all wealthy? You can't even house a midtower case? Reminds me of actual poor people going into debt to buy iPhones.

Here's a more realistic cost analysis.

If you max the gpu 2hours everyday, you'll be using $2/m. Most here probably won't use that much either unless you game everyday for 2 hours with max gpu usage.

>Hey everybody, I can't into reading comprehension!
>Look at me I'm a huge butthurt fag!
Literally how you sound.
When he said "theoretical potential" it was pretty obvious that he meant the theoretical peak power draw, which is a pretty shit way to determine how much a card will draw. Peak power draws can be anywhere from 1.4x to 1.8x the average power draw, and sometimes as high as 2.0x.

That's only a single moment in time though, and isn't a realistic comparison in the least. I could easily pull up peak numbers for the 980Ti above 500W.
>>
>>52046271
Mine is 6ยข per Kilowatt hour.
>>
>>52049601

>I could easily pull up peak numbers for the 980Ti above 500W.

For total system peak numbers I don't doubt but for the card itself? I find that unlikely. All but the highest clocked 980ti models (and even then since maxwell cannot into voltage) I would expect to peak around the 350w mark.
>>
>>52049573
I thought the reason people care about power useage is so they can plan around what power supply to use? I have a 600w psu with a Gtx 960 and an fx 8350. I feel like it's an overkill psu unless i start overclocking (I probably will because the 8350 is really show it's age).

The cost of a better psu is usually a lot more than the actual electricity bill. You'd save more on electricity by insulating your home better, turning off lights more frequently, ect.
>>
>>52050005

> I feel like it's an overkill psu unless i start overclocking

Assuming its a good unit then yes it is - cpu's rarely suck down closer to their maximum TDP for a whole host of reasons whereas gpus tend to do so. Plus in an ideal world for vidya you want your cpu as close to idle as possible while you want your gpu going flatout.

Its why unless you run full loads 24/7 on even high end hardware power draw is mostly irrelevant from a monetary standpoint. Ironically thats why the 9590 is a terrible cpu to buy but the likes of a 8320e or even 8350 are staggering better chips.
>>
>>52049573
Also forgot thats a 300w max gpu vs 0w gpu.

If you get a 150w max gpu, you'd pay an extra of $1 per month instead of $2.
