3 monitors works well for me. My main programming station has a 23" 16:9 main screen, a 20" 4:3 in portrait mode to the right, and a 20" 16:9 to the left. I'm trying to figure out how I can add a 15" 4:3 to my other workstation, which already has a 46" 16:9 screen and a 27" 16:10 to the left.
