how does intel keep getting away with this?

i need to build a new rig since i sold my old one and im seriously considering just going with a fx8350 for like 1-2 years then switching to zen....

intel is really screwing its costumers hard skylake has been out for a while, sold out and now restocked... and then the fuckers decide to spike 5th gen prices??!

wtf man
>>
This is gonna sound crazy but it's almost like demand for Haswell is still strong despite Skylake being released.
>>
Are you new to intel?

Old intel parts NEVER go down in price. Never.
Then as supply dwindles, the prices rise for a while.
>>
>>52043387
Thats a really high price for the 4690K, i got mine for 149 new just before skylake came out. damn.
>>
im going to pair the fx8350 with a r9 390 and i really starting to not give a fuck about 5-6fps loss

i dont feel like giving nvidia 100 dollars extra
>>
Do it. You AMD people keep Intel prices lower than they would be if they were the only game in town. Which is good for the rest of us.
>>
>>52043541
This.

Although I wish someone came along to replace AMD so intel had some actual competition.

Get away with what?

Haswell is literally 7% weaker than Skylake. The price should be 7% lower.

Check...check...prices check out. We're done. Now close this thread and commit suicide by touching a fx-9590 on an air cooler.
>>
at those prices i think its better to just pay another 25$ and get a 6600k lol

Wow Intels a jew what else is new. Maybe if AMD didn't bend over and take it instead of revealing and suing Intel for monopolistic practices it would work different.
>>
>>52043868
have you considered that retailers are the ones responsible for the price fluctuation and not intel ?
>>
>>52043917
Intel the biggest company in the world can't provide retailers with enough skylakes.

SURE.
>>
>>52043868
So intel increased the prices of the 4790k to match their performance relative to the 6700k?

Someone stop the presses. This is a full blown conspiracy...
>>
4690K was $215 a couple weeks ago, I got the non-K for $210 shipped.

No competition

>I got the non-K for $210 shipped.

4590 is only $159 at microcenter and a steal. Practically a 4690.
>>
>>52043990
I've never lived near a microcenter and I didn't pay tax.
>>
>>52043478
Nah, totally reasonable. Skylake has only marginal improvements and requires another socket change + DDR4 ram in many mobos (not all). People are waiting for the prices to come down on eBay, and boy will they.
>>
>>52043950
Well what do you expect when intel's only competition is itself.
>>
>>52043387
Become a retail employee and get in on the Holiday and Summer deals. I just picked up a 4790K off of the Holiday deal within 2 days of basic things on their site (tests about shit you already know) for $99 + $12 shipping brand new. And then an NH-D14 for $50 used.
>>
>>52043950
really strange since intel lists all the recommended prices online and you can easily see the the price history for yourself

http://camelcamelcamel.com
https://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646i74790k?history_days=730 shows a pretty consistent price.

wow, its like its fucking nothing
OP must be cherry picking data to suit his narrative.

>restocked

Unlocked Skylake prices are still stupidly inflated due to the shortages, so people are flocking back to Haswell.

I know I did. Snagged a new 4790k for $250 like 3 days ago.

Locked Skylake chips can be OCed on Z170 boards now, so unless you want hyperthreading, you can get a cheap non-k skylake i5 with a Z170 board and call it a day.
