almost 100% of the software I want to run works under Windows
around 80% of the software I want to run works under Linux (much of it VST instruments, handful of games and emulators, some file conversion utilities)
It's just simple math.
can't run the VSTs in my DAW in Wine because latency out the ass
can't run the games in Wine because they're broken in it/Wine's DirectX implementation has weird bottlenecks so they run slowly (Wine's usually faster than Windows as a whole actually) -- at least SSF runs noticeably better under Wine and gCDEmu is a shit-ton better than Daemon Tools, used it and Brasero or whatever to convert a bunch of weird-format images perfectly
most of the conversion utilities are fine, other than a handful of .NET-based ones that don't play well with Mono for whatever reason
I like Linux, and I regularly use it, but my primary machine runs Windows just about all the time.
