Sapphire Radeon R9 290X 8Gb Vapor-X - 330$
MSI Radeon R9 290X 4Gb Lightning - 260$
What should I choose, /g/? Sapphire card is cool and quite also have more
useless
VRAM, but its price is extremely impractical.

Between these two, probably the Lightning unless you're planning to crossfire two of them (which is when the 8GB VRAM might actually come in handy). Make sure it actually is the 8GB Vapor-X if you're doing that though.
>>52035330
970 cost less and is more powerful after overclocked, all while consuming half the power.
>>52035330
Make sure your PSU has enough power connectors for the Lightning.
That's about it, really.
>>52035330
Just buy a 7970
>>52035429
>Just buy a 7970
Just buy a 970*, ftfy
>>52035393
Nice shilling, faggot. An overclocked 290X rivals a 980, not a 970.
>muh $5 extra a year in electricity
>>52035446
>setting fire to your building
>overclocking AMD cards ever
Nice try jewface
>>52035351
>crossfire
No, only one card in my current rig.
>>52035393
Right now I have choice only between this two cards.
>>52035408
Corsair RM750. 2 wires with 2 8-pin connectors on each of them.
Both cards were in use, and the price of Lighting slightly worrying me.
>>52035446
And an overclocked 970 beats a 980
It's dumb buying amd when all games released nowadays are gameworks titles.
>>52035330
Where did you find the 8GB vapor-x? I couldn't find any in stock on any website.
>>52035481
Resales, it was in use about one year.
>2015
>even considering AMD
Every major release nowadays is a Gameworks title. Add to that lower power consumption and drivers that don't fry your card (kek), the only real option is NVidia.
Play games the way they're meant to be played.
>>52035724
Ah I'm skeptical about used GPUs and CPUs. Quick check on ebay has the 290x going for much cheaper than my 390 though which is cool. Guess I'll have to see how much of a difference DX12 makes.
>>52035851
Unless you pay out the ass for energy why is power consumption even an issue. For any card, Nvidia or AMD.
>>52035969
Enjoy your inferior performance per watt, performance in general, sky-high power bills, driver crashes, dead cards and housefires.

All these mother fuckers are hurt to see some one buying AMD. Funny as fuck how people can have such an emotional connection with a brand name. Any how >>52035330 OP I would get the MSI R9 if its in the budget and you really need it now plus I like MSI's quality. I never had a problem with them but they don't mean much cause you can get a bad card from any brand. As for the 8GB of VRam I don't know where games are going but I do know currently Fallout 4 recommends 4GB so 4GB should be fine. You can always crossfire a few months down the line if you fine a card for $100 on ebay or something.
So how much would the electricity cost between a 970 and 390 be?
>>52036192
no one knows they just talk that meme
>>52036192
About 3.50
>>52036192
What's your PSU rating? You'll barely notice anything if it's a good gold or platinum
For $260 a 290x lightning is a steal
Even if you were considering the 8gb for crossfire, I would rather not go that route, as it is an old card, and you could literally wait for better cards.
>muh amd shill
I have a 980 ti in my main rig
But at $260 a motherfucking 290x lightning? Shill or not shill you'd have to be retarded to not realize its a good value.
Either way op, I would recommend the lightning, but check 390 prices. Sometimes 390's float around the $280 mark, and at that point might as well get one of those cuz it does support newer features and whatnot
Many thanks for your replies, guys. Now I think, I'll choose MSI, but after some stress tests, of course.

Yep, you're right, but, since I'm not from the USA or Europe, I have some problems with buying on eBay or CU (shipping cost, taxes, etc.). So, "second hand" hardware is my only option for now. New cards is overpriced at least 2 times here.
