What do they use here? Saw it in last night's thread

getting your desktop to look like that takes a lot of learning
If you're seriously interested in getting your desktop to look better(and can ignore weebs spamming <3 all the time), go lurk some desktop threads. You might at least get an idea where to start. They are a bit hostile to new people sometimes, but if you ask nicely, they may help you(just don't expect them to spoonfeed you).
Otherwise, just accept your desktop as it is and keep using it.

>>52030581
You're right. I am willing to learn and I have time, I just didn't pay attention to the thread so I don't know if he said what he uses

>implying desktops need to look cool

function > form
>>
>>52030490
That looks horrible. if you use solarized themes for a few days it makes you feel depressed and suicidal.
>>
>>52030652
>implying desktops doesn't need to look cool

why not both?
>>
>>52030662
I am already depressed and suicidal.

It's a slippery slope into complacency and time wastage. In the end what you do with your computer is more important.
>>
install gentoo
>>
>>52030107
First of all if you are using laptop, gnome is the worst choice. it will rape your battery stamina far more than other distros.

What core are you using under gnome? arch or ubuntu?
>>
>>52030682
Windowsfag here, but I prefer working in something pretty and organized, dark backgrounds, minimalist themes like Metro. It is more pleasant to the eye when you spent a lot of hours programming, for example.
>>
>>52030692
>>52030704
I'm using Arch, what /g/ claims to be the memeOS
>>
>>52030670
Masturbate, consume sugar and smoke cigarettes. It keeps me fairly active and functioning like a normal person.

>>52030715
Yes, having a comfortable platform that is easy on the eyes motivates you to work. The type of rice you are expecting requires enormous amounts of time which is why all the NEET/Weeb losers have such desktops.

Start with Xfce DE, it allows greater customization than Unity and Gnome. From there, locate icons, GTK themes and Window managers that you find tasteful.

>>52030722
Arch is okay, anything that allows you to do a minimal install and then load the DE is useful. I did Ubuntu minimal core and then Xfce with selective packages to minimize bloat that you find in prepackaged ISO's.
>>
>>52030662
It looks pretty good
>>
>>52030749
Well, not interested in cigarettes but it is a good tip.
I will search about those but do you have any idea what was used here? >>52030490
I am loving Arch, in two days I already learned a lot.
>>
>>52030107
Chromium is pretty minimalist if you may ask
>>
>>52030919
I see a lot of minimalist themes for chrome or firefox. I want those, even if I need to rice a lot.
>>
>>52030107
What terminal is that?
>>
>>52031108
Xterm
>>
>>52030490
i3 and transparent i3bar
aka "look at me I'm a retarded ricer "
aka "not worth the waste of time to get it right when xfce already looks clean enough"
>>
>>52031790
you sound very jealous
>>
>>52031790
I am not him, but I am very jealous.
A trasnparent i3bar can make the terminal and browser look like that? Or do I need to rice more?
>>
>>52031830
why would changing the bar make the terminal/browser look different?

you need to change your terminal fonts/colours and write a custom css for firefox and wikipedia for it to look like that
>>
>>52031858
Well, sounds challenging, I like that.
>>
>>52031946
writing the css from scratch would be tricky but fairly simple once you get the hang of it, the terminal is just a case of quickly editing .Xresources
>>
>>52031976
I had a few CSS classes at school, saturday I will start working on that. Want a pretty smooth OS.
