Are anti virus programs a meme?
what's a "meme" in this context?
>>52028960
meme means "do not take my post seriously"
Bitdefender is actually legit, but the price makes it a meme
norton is so pathetic it's almost sad
"free" antivirus programs are litterally advertisement.exe

you kinda nailed it, based on >>52028972
>the price makes it a meme
>do not take my post seriously
good advice.

What i meant was, are they really necessary or are they bloat/bot/kike ware? or which one is the most trusted here, and the least CPU taxing?
>>52029002
based on everything you've said, i'd say they are absolutely necessary in your case.
and if anti-malware software needs CPU cycles, give them to it. i don't get the sense that you're using your computer for anything more important.

Kek, bravo
You don't need anti-virus software, you need common sense. The occasional scan by malwarebytes is all you need if you must do a scan one a blue moon.
>>52030336
Common sense can't protect from everything and neither can anti virus programs. Together they are effective though and it doesn't hurt to run a scan here and there.

>Common Senseā¢ can't protect from everything
Implying. No malware on my Windoze since 2012.
>>52028952
yes
there are two categories of viruses:
1. "win free iphone", "make your PC 10x faster", "free porn.exe" kind of shit, which can be easily avoided by using ad blocking and brain.exe - no need for AV.
2. 0day stuff that can take over your system by just visiting a website or similar - AV can't protect you against these.
By the time those pieces of shit realize that something is going on, some rootkit - trojan combo will have already infected the shit ouf of your computer.
No. The only thing you need is a functioning brain... and an AdBlocker, which is by far the most important security feature you can have nowadays.
Antiviruses are like antibacterial soap.
If you don't get your hands/pc in some unusual shit. Common sense/regular 99cent soap will suffice.

Those expensive ones with "gamer" mode are memes in my opinion.
Computers are memes
>>52031549
life is a meme
Reasons do not exist to bank or shop using Windows, so why run AV?
I do my comms needing security using Linux and install Windows for the apps requiring it such as CAD/CAM soft. No problem.
Kaspersky found a Bitcoin miner on my PC once. The thing exploited the Java JDK on my PC which I never updated.
>>52029018
>based on everything you've said, i'd say they are absolutely necessary in your case.
Holy shit, I've never actually FELT the pimp hand being laid down through a browser before
>>52028952
i only use av's because im too lazy press scan or turn on sandbox everytime i insert flash drives or download shady shit.
>>52031017
>2. 0day stuff that can take over your system by just visiting a website or similar - AV can't protect you against these.
how to deal with this then
>>52034070
run browser in a sandbox
>>52034132
