Got a problem with anything at all? I can solve it. My expertise is verified and while I specialise in computers, i have expertise in many other areas as well. Ask away.

triplebootfagwannabe here, gonna (sleep and then) partition my 256GB SSD like this:
50GiB - NTFS - Win 7
40GB - HFS - El Cap'n
30GB - Ext2/3/4 - undecided distro (non-gentoo, preferably with installer)
restGB - exFAT - shared space for documents, desktop, and other shit
anything I should do differently? (and, of course, if you reply, be a good anon and state reasons why)

Is design r4 a safe case to get for someone new to pc building?
>>
>>52023836
ok havne't done this since probably 10.6, but at that time it was best to create your uefi drive and hft+ partition first, install OSX and chameleon, then install windows 2nd and linux third. After that boot back into your hack setup usb key and redo whatever boot loader is the go these days.

I'd have the shared partition as a seperate drive though for sure. much easier if you have to nuke the OS drive or if you fuck something up

Good value for money. Tasteful and mature aesthetics, and fuckloads of 3.5" drive bays. As easy for a first time builder as anything else really

thanks for reply, I found the lifehacker guide, I was more curious about specific partition things, I should also specified it's laptop with mSata ssd so I can have regular data disk there as well; as per shared partition I thought it's gonna be waste of disk space as organization problems not having it there/having separate drive (which I sadly don't have for now (cuz the one I have is dedicated to back-ups))

i wouldn't think about the setup as a long term one. Just configure it so you can try out all the bells and whistles of OS X properly. your next laptop will likely be a macbook if you end up liking OSX. Time Machine, quick look, and automator are probably the initial things that blew me away. but there's millions of great thing to may notice and appreciate

Is there any decent Wifi PCI cards?
The one I currently have gives me huge latency problems causing sound glitches and games hitching
or should I switch to USB wifi? *lan hard wired isn't an option*

any friendly GUI software that I can use to manage my partition mounting? (make it automatic, remove the need to have root priviledges to mount ntfs)

I'm on Debian Testing x64 + MATE
>>
>>52024492
depends on what your router is capable of as to whether a usb dongle will be the bottleneck or not.
>>
>>52024554
There is on Mac, with things like NTFS 4G and Tuxera. You can also really easily add it to auto mount on boot as well via terminal. dunno how to have it store your root password in linux, but on OS X it just uses the OS X keychain.

I'm a computer expert though, not a linux user.

I fucked up the partition table on an external drive about a year ago when i was still new to linux. I still havent gotten around to actually fixing it.

It was formatted as NTFS and I mindlessly ran some command line shit to force it to mount in linux. It ended up getting confused permanently about what kind of drive it was and where it's contents were located.

I know there's nothing wrong/missing from the files themselves. Can you give me some advice on how to fix it?

My piece of shit computer can't even handle 1440p youtube videos. What do I need to be able to handle 360 degree 4k @ 60fps vids? What do I need to handle the future 360 degree 8k @ 120fps vids?
>>
>>52024649
No. If you feel like you should kill yourself you are one of the many people who suffer from depression. Go to a psychiatrist and a psychologist to work on your issues but chemically and mentally. You may doubt it right now but there is daylight at the end of the tunnel you are going through

>>52024669
run any recent windows setup and the fixmbr stuff for starters. linux probably has the equivalent tool but i'm not familiar with it

How can I get a gf?
>>
>>52024677
firstly, don't plan on buying something today to future proof yourself for 8k. Keep that in the back of your mind i guess but you will most likely have many more computers before you are actually watching much 8k stuff.

What format are you currently viewing the youtube videos in? consider switching to mp4 as that should have the best hardware acceleration in most circumstances

Using integrated audio on a p6t deluxe motherboard. Using both athm50s and hd598s my audio max is around 30 percent on windows. Basically the volume increases from 0-30 but after that it just stays at the same volume. I usually have to keep my volume at like 10 for it to be comfortable to listen to.

Basically why the shit do I only get a 30 step range to play with on my headphones instead of the usual 100 step range. With speakers the problem doesn't exist, I have to turn it up to 100 to get normal volumes.
>>
>>52024891
rusty on this and i would only be guessing. I have a bluetooth speaker that is the same to source volume adjustments as well.
