Why are you still using windows?
>>
because:
1) I use this computer for gaming
2) I don't develop nor know anything about programming
3) Most programs/games are only available in windows
4) I can handle most windows problems well, so no bug problems
There is no reason for me to use another operative system.
>>
>>52023267
Well, 95% of the time I use GNU/Linux. I only boot into Windows on my desktop occasionally to play a video game. I use Linux for literally everything else.
>>
>>52023309
>I don't develop nor know anything about programming

you may as well have just said "im a retard" and left it at that.

I have a job. I can't afford to say this program "doesn't work" on my desktop pc because there isn't a good Linux port for it or it sucks on Wine. Yes, I want to be able to work at home too not just watch anime and rice arch.

You are deluded, having a moderate knowledge of computers is more than enough. You certainly don´t need to know how to code to fit here.

I've used Kubuntu, Mint, and every Windows version out there, and i still prefer Windows.

We "normies" as you say simply don't care about frivolous things like what OS you're supposed to be using. We don't waste out time with shit like this.

I prefer going out with my gf rather than spending 6 hours trying to make a NIC work on Linux.

I dont have autism, i don't don't get any satisfaction from installing a driver and making it work.

Most of the time, yes. But when it doesn't you must go though dozens of forums to find an answer and hopefully a fix to your problem.

And the most important thing, my gaymes dont work on it. And since I use my PC as a entertainment system Linux isn´t a viable option right now.

Linux is probably more secure and stable than Windows, even if we assume the person using it is a total moron and logs in with root whenever they use their computer. I've only really mucked up my install once on Linux, and it explicitly warned me about it.

I have yet to see significant results, but I think I've heard that Linux gets better performance out of the games that run, and with Linux emulation, FreeBSD is even better (read an article that said FreeBSD was up to 60% better than Ubuntu for gaymen)

Yea so it basically matters less than it already did. Makes me wonder if anything important actually got compromised because of this. Probably not, since you either needed to be serial'd into the device or be sitting in front of it.

If you think the Grub exploit is an example of poor Linux security, you're sorely mistaken, since most hackers are unwilling or unable to get into my house. The only thing the grub exploit was good for was for whoever lives with you to break into your computer, assuming their tech literate enough to know about the exploit before it got fixed and dumb enough to not use something more effective.

So you don't work with it professionally anyway. For the interface there is a mode where everything is in one window. It's good enough for 95% of people. If you are the 5% of professional editors you would have paid for the adobe suite.

Linux used to be good.
YaST, a Real Firefox, XFS... lot of good stuff incmluded, screensavers, walpapers., every distro was different.

now it's bloatware. mandatory free and buggy drivers, a voluntary lack of support for "nonfree" software/drivers, Ubuntu now does like Apple/MS monetizing with Amazon.

I really prefer to stay with XP. Really I do.

>Linux is the name of the kernel that Linus Torvalds developed starting in 1991. The operating system in which Linux is used is basically GNU with Linux added. To call the whole system “Linux” is both unfair and confusing. Please call the complete system GNU/Linux, both to give the GNU Project credit and to distinguish the whole system from the kernel alone.

It has only one PCIe x16 port and I think that would probably be overkill on the PSU (I have an ASUS r9 280x and a 6850HD, and a 700W PSU).

Unless I can use a GPU on a PCIe 2.0 port I think I'm fucked. It'd be nice if there was some real black magic where I could use my dedicated GPU ports with the integrated graphics. That way I would have the same monitor with multiple HDMI cables connected only to the dedicated GPU and would switch inputs. But obviously if I want to use the integrated graphics I need to use that VGA port on the motherboard.

Low-end GPUs only use a few Watts.

The operating system itself is basically systemd and its binaries plus linux. GNU is just userland software like vim and thunar. It's like the xcode developer tools on macs - handy, but not OS-critical.
