Last week I bought X220, mint condition, all components tested, generally very happy with the purchase. Today, after one charging cycle battery stopped charging. Power adapter is working fine - I can use the computer without the battery. When battery is connected OS isn't able to detect AC power and battery is just slowly discharging. Problem persist both on Arch and W8.1. Is the charging circuit fucked /g/? Do I need to RMA?

Not sure if I have the same issue with my t420. But mine won't charge unless it's asleep.

X60s owner here. Is your battery a genuine Lenovo battery. Mine is. It still retains 3 hours of charge after 4 years of operation. (6 cell).

Both charger and battery are genuine. Also I just verified it charges if computer is turned off.

Have you tried putting the battery in while the pc is on?
>>52020729
No, I can try that.

It switched to battery mode instantly and is not charging.

What happens if you let it run out of battery?
Thinkpads have a "force discharge" mode, typically used to re-calibrate the battery power meter, that forces the laptop to run on battery even if it is AC powered.
It seems like in your case it's "stuck" on it.
Try to let it drain the battery all the way down. In this "force discharge" mode, once the battery is empty, it switches back to AC and starts charging.
This sounds more like a charger problem than a battery problem. Does it charge the battery at all while the laptop is turned off?

Are you using a dock. Dock has its own firmware which needs upgrades seldomly. Otherwise I think it's charger/battery related.
Also try cleaning the battery contacts with a pencil eraser. Dust settles in you know

You fucked up by buying a used ThinkPad.
If you had bought a new one you would have a fucking box on your doorstep with two way air shipping to get the shit serviced.

That is probably a Core i5 sticker and that bitch still posts that.
