DDR3 or DDR4?
Higher is better, obviously. The question is how much better. Personally I won't update for a while.

It literally doesn't matter at all unless you have a workload that benefits from faster RAM. Gaymes are not such a workload, unless you're using an APU.

I have ddr 3 ram but am running memtest and i t says ddr2. Anyone know why?

It's all a meme.
There is supposedly a huge difference between DDR2 and DDR3 and yet I don't notice any difference having went from an old computer with 6GB DDR2 to a new computer with 8GB DDR3

No. I'm sure they exist, but I don't know of any. Results between RAM speeds are margin of error stuff across the board, from professional programs to games.
