people don't buy diesel cars because they are more reliable, same as people don't buy mechanical because they need one keyboard to last 40 years.

typing on scissor or rubber dome now after using mech keys is painful. they aren't bad and certainly before I'd used a mech board I didn't even notice it. But domes fucking suck for typing.
>>
>>52012172
All I'm getting from your post is that using a mechanical keyboard for any period of time breaks your fingers in such a way that will render you unable to use a modern rubber dome keyboard ever again because "it's painful to type on".
>>
>>52012114
I'm not the guy with problems. None of my mechanical keyboards have had any issues.

>tfw my first mechanical keyboard was a black switch ss 6gv2
I kinda of like it but I think I would have like browns more, and this keyboards "/" and "\" are weirdly placed.

It's a weird feeling, on one hand I'm happy that it's build like a tank because it's good value on the other hand I kinda want to try something else too. I'm too jew to switch something that works just fine.

if you get another board it's easy to justify it if it's different enough

>>
>>52012263
My next keyboard is gonna be a Quickfire XT with browns (really similar to the 6gv2).

I don't really care for having many "different" boards. I want one that's fits me and then I don't wanna have to worry about it anymore.

mechanical keyboards are easier and faster to use than rubber domes. You misinterpreted that. I feel like you have a chip on your shoulder maybe.

actually rubber domes are faster if you don't bottom them out like some kind of retard
do you even type?

>This isn't some stupid nerd thing like have a pocket DAC and amp for your MP3 player

Most people don't give a shit about keyboards because they peck type and type too slowly to notice the difference between rubber dome and cherry meme switches.

pre-2000s rubber domes are really high quality tho, especially if they come with a steel backing plate for stabilty.

I have owned a poker with metal caps. Was very nice but 60% was never my thing.
Owned a noopoo choc mini. It is nice. But cannot type as fast even after a month. And do not really like the 75% layout too.
Owned a DAS keyboard. Full size with blue switches. Have hit 120 wpm consistently and is a great keyboard, but too big and plastic.
I need a good TKL. I do not really care about price. Would prefer amazon. I play csgo if that matters. Thanks.

They feel like how people expect browns to feel before being disappointed. It has the benefits of both traditional mechanical switches and rubber domes.
The tactile bump is more refined than any Cherry switch and after it becomes smoother than reds with some slight resistance increase before you hit the bottom. It then pops back up quicker than most Cherry switches.
The Novatouch is one of the cheapest ways to get genuine Topre and uses a special stem to be compatible with all the popular aftermarket keycaps.

I currently have a gaymen rubber dome Logitech g105 and i like the way the keys feel, and ive had it for a few years now.

i also own an ibm model m and it was great for typing, but i can type just as fast on a rubber dome, but gaming on it felt like trash.

I dont even notice the "squishyness" of a rubber dome

I'm not going to excuse anyone with a 40%, but as a 60% and previously a TKL/80% user I can tell you that having a small keyboard is great, not only ergonomically, but a lot of things go on a desk besides your keyboard and mouse.

Pic related. Excuse the shitty lighting (I didn't wanna get up), but I'm using a pok3r.
>>
>>52019460
I'm sure it's possible to use most keys if you press the right combination of modifiers, but fuck, it's minimalism taken to an absurd level.

I'm at my brother's house atm. Been here a few months. At my parent's house I have a much smaller desk. It can still fit a model M, and has, but I don't really like losing all that space. Sometimes I use more space than I am currently.

>eats at their computer
It's not really like that. I'm eating at my desk, where I always sit during the day. I don't hang over my keyboard. If my food takes up enough space I even push my keyboard out of the way. Usually just hang over the desk or my lap, though. I'm a very clean person and clean off my mouse and desk often aside from washing my hands.

The desk is a little wider than the picture shows but I could barely see my phone screen when I took the shot. I've got a Wii U GamePad, and 3DS in their charging cradles to the right as well.

Sometimes it's just nice to have workspace.

As far as I'm concerned, what I do is equivalent to what everyone in college is doing right now. I'm learning to program and practicing my GNU/Linux skills so I can get a job relevant to my interests.

>>
>>52018517
if both are new they will be roughly the same feeling
after two years a classic rubber dome is going to have more noticeably inconsistent wear based on what keys are pressed more or less often
>>
>>52019927
No. A lot of programmers and such at least like the Model M. I'd say mechanical keyboards are practically normie territory by now. You're gonna have to tell apart normies from enthusiasts by seeing if they got a Pok3r, HHKB, etc. or something from Razer/Corsair/Ducky.
>>
>>52019935
>overpriced membrane
because it feels objectively nicer and smoother to type on than janky mechanical switches with lots of moving parts and hurt your hands overtime from harsh bottom outs.
it's the rubber dome done right, because you get the benefit of a springy bounceback while also having a consistent actuation force that's also quiet and comfy to type on.
>>
>>52014348
I was kinda worried about the 60% i got but its awesome dude, youd be surprised how annoying it is going back. A lot more inconvenient than learning the 4-5 fn buttons you actually use
>>
>>52019999
This. Had to look at the keyboard for the first time in a few years the other day to see where page up and page down were (mostly just use home/end but I needed to scroll in my terminal for something where the mouse didn't work) but now I think I've got all the function keys down. I'm thinking of finally getting some blank keycaps.

I'm fine with blank keycaps on a TKL but was holding off on the 60% until I learned the function stuff. It happened surprisingly fast, though.
>>
