Any (better) alternatives to this piece of shit?

mutt, but what are your qualms with thunderbird?
>>
>>52009253
But why? It's the only thing mozilla ever done right since it went to shit with Firefox.
>>
Opera Mail
>>

Outlook.
>>

I'm all for CLI and text-based tools, but how do you live without built-in HTML email? I send and receive in plaintext whenever possible but sometimes it's not an option
>>
>>52009326
you mean a browser? are you retarded?
>>
>>52009344
the interface is shit, and now it's doing some weird shit.

>have 5 email accounts
>compose and send email as account 1
>the email receiver sees my email sent as account 2
>the email even gets sent to the "sent folder" of the 2nd account
wtf is this?
>>
>>52009383
mutt can use whichever editor you want, so you can send HTML email if you want.

>>52009433
you're configuring it wrong. mutt can use hooks when you switch accounts. if you switch to account 2, your "sent as" should be hooked for account 2, but conversely when you switch back to account 1 it should hook back to account 1. it might seem daunting but is actually really logical.
tl;dr rtfm
>>
>>52009481
I just sent a test email. I double checked the "from" field in the email compose window, and it still sent it as the wrong account.
>>
>>52009373
Abandonware
>>
I typically just use Evolution Mail.
>>
>>52009511
So is Opera 12.16 but it's still the best browser. By no means does currently supported = better program
>>
>>52009433
>>52009481
oh wait, you're talking about thunderbird
yes, the interface is shit, but you can configure it to be a little less shit.
you're still configuring it wrong though. check your account settings, especially the "Outgoing Server (STMP)" setting for the account.
Or maybe it's a bug. I switched over to mutt for a while when NTLM didn't work on some Thunderbird version.
>>
>>52009344
It's possible to use w3m to render html emails correctly in the display pane. Works 90% of the time. The rest of the time there is a text version of the email available.
>>
>>52009550
>"Outgoing Server (STMP)"
there's only a dropdown, with google mail named 3 times, no way to differentiate, but by trial and error, I found the one corresponding to that specific gmail account.

Is there a place in thunderbird settings where I can configure and see a better (detailed) list of smtp servers?
>>
>>52009392
Are you, retarded? There aren't many pros to using an email client anymore. I understand the differences. I merely presented the better alternative, jackass.

If you're so concerned about offline email, use Gmail Offline.
>>
>>52009383
Replied to wrong response.

You only have 2 account, I use 7 in total, and the fact that I can't just have it show "inbox folder" and "sent folder" only bugs the fuck out of me. That side bar gets full and cluttered as fuck.

that is non descriptive cancer. pic related, which one of my 3 gmail accounts does that smtp belong to? I can't tell unless I choose it and send an email.

Or stick with Thunderbird. Just because Mozilla isn't interested in it anymore doesn't mean it won't be forked.

Unless you are some typical harry or lucy, I'd suggest getting some sort of mail software that watches for new emails.

Personally, I have 4 email accounts that I monitor. It's much better having notifications when you receive your mail so you can reply to critical emails much sooner. It's much more reliable and you find that the website interfaces (namely if you're using hotmail or that shit) go down often while the mail servers are still up.

I have a professional email hosted on my VPS, A paypal/bank/ebay/aliexpress email, casual email, and a spam email.

But you can.

Granted, they made it horribly difficult to change. It just took me 5 minutes to figure out where the option was.
Press F10 to enable the menu bar, (the option is not in the new menu), then click View -> Folders -> Select 'Grouped'

Does your browser tab support PGP or multiple accounts from the same provider?

Best client is the provider's client + pop peeper or something for desktop notifcations.

I'm reluctant to say thunderbird now because 1) it's mozillaware 2) it's abandonware 3) it supports nothing but pop and imap, so forget about exchange for example and fuck the guy that made exquilla. Also thunderbird sucks at integrating well with eg gmail, showing stupid root folders and shit instead of just adapting itself to how the service works like what literally everyone else does.

We have Zimbra as a mail server where I work and their desktop client is a giant piece of shit.
It's basically a Java webapp so it needs lots of RAM and is slow when it needs to process tons of mails.
Thunderbird works well as an alternative, it even supports CalDAV and CarDAV for contacts and calendar.
>>
>>52016743
Can confirm my job used to have Zimbra, we have since moved to Google Apps which is million times better.
>>
>>52016839
I wish we could use something like that but this is a (foreign) government agency. So privacy laws wouldn't allow us to use some mail service if the data is not in our servers.
