at least it's not 100% shit-tier 1366x768. the crappier screen will get you a better battery life too, part of the reason it has a 14 hour battery life

Why should I do that? I'm a student and use the computer labs for anything intensive/past typing up papers and viewing documents.

Lavabit were very good with security and the tinfoil factor.
Lavabit were given a choice to either compromise their security or stop operating.
I don't see why Apple wouldn't have been given the same choice and Apple definitely wouldn't chose the latter.

An Apple computer is like a BMW: It's a solid car, but most people are buying it for the badge alone. There's nothing wrong with that.

But you could find an equally good computer for much cheaper literally anywhere else, and you don't have to use BMW's expensive ass parts and services to get it fixed if something goes wrong.

Basically, you're paying for a badge. Nothing wrong with that. But don't lie to yourself that it's a better machine.

A decent Inspiron will shit all over the XPS in terms of performance because they don't use the low voltage processors.

Their manuals describe how to strip the thing to the last screw. That's a big plus and it means they don't think you're a retard, unlike most brands. I replaced a CPU once using a service manual like I said earlier (I can't vouch for newer laptops though but the older ones didn't have soldered processors).

The Inspirons lack the "premium" casing of the XPS series but honestly I'd pick an Inspiron just for the raw performance.

The problem with the XPS and most ultrabooks is the low-voltage processors. They're usually dual-core and exceedingly slow.

Eh? We get about 4-6 hours depending on use at work. Almost everyone uses Linux on them though. The airs get dramatically better battery life under osx, but still last for 5ish hours in Linux, so not bad. Just not great.
>>
>>51988132
>You don't need 14 hours of battery life
Not on a regular basis, but I'd rather have battery life to keep on going on a few days that I need it than have it die because someone on /g/ told me the non-ULV processor decoded his cuck porn faster.

>>51988239
Less efficient means jack shit to the consumer. Sure it's a better technical achievement to have the efficiency, but all the consumer cares about is how long it will stay on.

>>51988155
