So I just upgraded my Athlon II to this beauty. Been an AMD customer since Intel released that dumbass Pentium II cartridge. While I was there I went and looked up what Intel has these days and I noticed their vastly inflated prices. 300 dollars for a 4gig processor. 3 times as much for a slower processor to an AMD.
Why do people pay these prices? When did Intel suddenly start ripping you all off? I recall that processors used to be about the same price between AMD and Intel, what happened?
you get what you pay for. good performance is expensive. intel still makes the most powerful cpu's
>>51981027
We're all stupid. You got us.
People pay that because AMD can't compete on higher end processors.
Also because of no competition, they can mark them whatever price that suits them.
You know what would be really really fucking helpful? If you actually posted which mother fucking CPU that is. "fx processor" tells us jack shit

I just googled the picture. Its the 4350.

Should've gotten the FX 6300 only $10 more expensive.
Return it if you can.

Yeah but I dont need 6 cores. I also looked at some reviews which showed the diminishing returns of cores. 4 seams to be the sweet spot.
>>51981154
Yeah that did put me off at first but the video card I bought uses only 50 so it will balance out pretty good.

Grats on your 4.2GHz processor OP. I wish my 6 year old Lynnfield would do that. Alas, it's a server mobo, so it's stuck under 3.
Jewed again by Intel.

>AMD has never jewed consumers
>>51981203
>I DON'T NEED 6 CORES FOR PENNIES MORE
You're the kind of stupid cheap retard that would purposely get a 500gb HDD for $45 instead of a 1TB for $50 because I DON'T NEED 1TB
The upgrade costs the price of a fucking McDonald's meal. You're so fucking stupid Jesus Christ
>>51981250
No, im not a moron like you. The 4350 is a base, 4.2 gig while the one you are fanboying over is a 3.5. 700 megahertz is is worth more than 2 extra cores.
>>51981321
>this level of post purchase rationalisation
>>51981281
Follow the link.
>>51981338
Thanks. I did spend a good amount of time picking between them. Which is why I never have buyers remorse.
>>51981342
So why did you buy a server board, knowing that you can't OC?
>>51981342
Whoops, messed up reading the graphs properly and therefore mistook your post as serious.
>buying AMD
>>51981321
>what is overclocking
>clock speed is everything
I'm glad for your upgrade but you really should have went for the 6 core.
>>51981390
Go look up diminishing returns of cores. I do not compile. So 2 extra cores means very little to me.
>>51981360
>FX-4350 beating anything
You should've known better anon.
>>51981356
I picked it up used. Xeon X3450, 16GB, mobo, PSU, and CD-RW for $150.
>>51981419
why don't we stick with really powerful single cores then :^)
>>51981245
This, when amd64 first came around and they were on top because of the integrated memory controller, they were tip top jews. I have a full amd meme system then and now, but why do so few of us remember their inner lurking merchant nature? If Zen manages to produce, prices will go up, bottom line.
>>51981203
>I don't need 6 cores
you mean 3
>>51981451
Go read the thread, my god you are some dumb mother fucker. Is this your first day with computers?
Do not buy fro AMD.
>>51981468
>resorting to ad homenium attacks as a result of getting told that your purchase was a mistake
face it you're no better than macfags buying apple products because of the brand, instead you've substituted it for amd
AMD is for poorfags and autists. Do not purchase AMD processors or graphics cards.
>>51981499
>telling a dumbass to read the thread which explains why he is a dumbass is ad homenium
Keep being retarded.
AMD CPUs are neither suitable for gaming or productivity.
>>51981514
Well, enjoy your shitty dual core then.
>>51981475
>>51981500

What happened was intel paid OEMs to not use AMD processors. Among other things. Intel poisoned the market for AMD.
>>51981566
So thats why I need seeing references to Microsoft when I hear about Intels business practices.
>>51981566
You conveniently forget that AMD's management ran the company in to the ground as well.
>>51981528

literally 1-3 seconds slower for comparable price.
>>51981597

Those are all proprietary and hence completely useless benchmarks.

Listen here shitlords. There is nothing wrong with AMD you are all just brainwashed by le greedy merchant Intel. I don't need more than 4 cores and why pay more for not much more? That was the point of my thread. And yes clock speed is more important than meme cores, dumbasses
Enjoy your meme tier processors
>>51981953
Yeah, I just about shit when I saw the prices on Intel processors. Its like the iphone of x486.

Wow this place is full of mad /v/edditors that forced mommy to buy the latest i7 for their autism simulators. Maybe when you grow up you'll learn to value money kiddos.
>>51984050
I see someone desperately trying to convince himself that that 10% savings on his build was worth getting only half the single-threaded performance.
>>51984309
>half the single-threaded performance.
* in proprietary benchmarks on Windows
>>51984407
Sure, Intel owns 90% of the server market because of "proprietary benchmarks on Windows."
