The original Pi is pretty weak, but the Pi 2 has similar performance to a low end smartphone. I use mine as a seedbox.
It's not the fastest device ever, but even though the USB and Ethernet is on the same header, I still get ~3 MB/s speeds downloading torrents to an external drive.

I build a device which displays temperature, air humidity and pressure when rotated correctly(via gyrosensor). It uses IoT and stores the data in .txt files, might look into optimizing that. My father is working at Audi, they liked the idea and might implement it into their offices for presentation purposes
