They sell kits for fitting 2x 2,5" HDDs in 3,5" slots, get one.

>>51981981

I don't need to - I have another drive cage that will house it but its not worth restricting airflow for a 2.5" drive. The PC isn't going to be thrown around so there is no harm leaving it like that.

They sell kits for fitting 2x 2.5" and a 3.5" in 5.25".
What a time to be alive.
>>
>>51978931
Only things that ever worked for me were cable tying the pci power wires in a way that held up the gpu (can allow heatsink sag) or just putting a fucking stick under it. My case will probably last a lifetime, but if not, totally looking at HTPC style cases that lay flat, or something rotated 90 degrees to keep the GPU vertical next time.

It was already a solved problem for full-length PCI cards, but you faggots decided you wanted special-snowflake form-over-function cases and pretty graphics cards so you could stroke it while staring through the window (on the side of your special-snowflake case).

So you get to deal with sagging cards as a consequence.
>>
>>51983778
Don't professional cards still have the thing at the back?
>>
>>51983760
and before you ask, no the legos won't melt. I did this for months with a 290x and the plastic was fine.
>>
>>51983778

Not my fault all cheap cases come with windows m8, I'd gladly get one without windows but they're all more expensive than my budget can allow

Yes they do, and professional cases still have slots for the bracket to slide into (and support the card)

when they first arrived, benches and reviews said they were on par with the top of the line BeQuiet Silent Wings 2 but were 5€ less each

i just forgot, they are called with a "Plus" at the end and they dropped in price as of now in germany atleast. they are definately worth it but i 2-3 are enough for efficient cooling
>>
>>51978946
Just orient your case that way dumbass.
>>
>>51985906
Yeah, I'm just looking to replace my current rear and top exhaust fans with something nicer, and maybe add a bottom intake. Might as well fill the fan slots I have, so I can run them at a nice low speed and have some leftover cooling potential for when I need it.
>>
>>51985864
To be fair the R9 295x2 is also effectively 4GB, both companies multi-gpu technology requires duplication of most things.
>>
>>51978931
>my video is already noticeable sagging
fuck me, its been like 1 month
>>
>>51986013
well prop it up or get a backplate or something
>>
>>51985970
i can tell you from personal experience that a bottom intake adds almost nothing to your airflow. you are better off with closing it with a sheet of cardboard or anything else that you could apply on it..

a good stream is better than many operations, hence why server mainboards have usually only fans in a pipeline of the important parts.

the best airflow which i watched in a youtube video is 2 low rpm intake fans and 1 high rpm outtake fan
>>
>>51986044
M don't have a modular/removable HDD cage, sadly, so my 200mm front intake fan has its work cut out, and my GPU could use a bit of direct, cool intake air.
>>
>>51986092
be carefull then.. you might end up spending way to much with little to no effect

that's what i learned about this lesson
>>
>>51986120
I appreciate the advice. I just feel like having too many fans isn't necessarily a bad thing, since you can just carry them over from build to build, you know?
>>
>>51986165
it depends.. for my part i want to get a mini itx after my rig becomes obsolete so i feel like my investment into 140mm might turn out to be falls if my future case only supports 120mm fans lol
>>
>>51986182
Ah yes, true. I don't see myself going mini-ITX anytime soon, since my GPU and CPU cooler are fucking massive.

I'm probably gonna be running this setup for a while. I don't think an i5-4690K and an R9 290 will become obsolete all that quickly.

Bottle caps
>>
>>51978931
I have the Air 540 cube case on its side and makes my 290 stand vertically.

It looks pretty cool actually.
>>
>>51986474

I severely doubt VR is going to kill a 290 quickly if its using liquidVR. On paper a 290 has nearly as much compute power as a 980ti.
>>
>>51986525
like i said, it depends.

vr could become such a huge hit in summer 2016 that everyone wants it and by then, amd and nvidia might feature dual gpu based solution for vr which render the image per eye for the most efficient rendering technique

but this is only something which time will tell

also, paper is not telling you much. the architecture as a whole is important and that's why the 980ti gets on par fps with the fury x with much lessened shader count because they are aligned differently
>>
>>51986448
>fractal define arc midi r2

>>

Did EXACTLY THAT.

In the end, even with the card lying on it very lightly, the cooler got loose from the GPU by getting slightly toppled.

So to avoid that I'd have to support the outer part of the card like seen in that photo AND the part of the cooler on the motherboard side.

FUCK THIS SHIT.

Next build will be a desktop case. I'm sick of this fuck.
