I have both...
A Dell Latitude 3540 with a R9 265x and an AMD FX 8120 desktop that still runs the games I need. I am considering upgrading the GPU on it eventually though. But it isn't that bad if you get them spaced apart like you get during one year and get the 2nd one the next.

i don't have the 4k version,
So I just went ahead and bought the Dell Inspiron 15 7559.
I'm VERY interested to see how it turns out. I got the $850 model with a Intel Core i7 (6th Gen @3.50Ghz), 8gb Ram, a 4GB Nvidea GTX 960m, and a 1080p display. That's insane for the money, and I'm really interested in how it will turn out.
I will let you guys know in the future if it's too good to be true. I already know that they supposedly have had to cut back on the build quality for the price it is at, so we will see.

I'm 100% in the desktop camp. I had some great laptops over the years, but my desktop is almost seven years old and still chugging along nicely. I just swap out the video card every three years or so and it does everything I want.

I don't really see any reason for a gaming laptop.
The peripherals for desktops are simply better, I can get the same power for less money and I only play games when I am at home anyway, so there is no reason for me to have it portable.
I guess it would be different if I had to move around a lot or some shit like that.
