I never really understood this program. I tried it for a while and it just made me feel like my monitor was about the crap out
>>51974037
it has definitely helped me fall asleep at night. I use it on both my phone and my laptop.
I like it.
Although I use twilight on my android since there isnt an app for android only iphone
>>51974037
Less strain on eyes at night.
Helps me out desu. I spend way too much time with the only incoming light being the monitor.
Need to get myself a candle
>>51974037
i've dropped the programs more than i've dropped my animus, but once you get used to it, it really helps.
>flu.x/redshift
>not using sct
I sit at my computer for 10+ hours only getting up to go to the bathroom, for food, etc. in a completely unlit room. My eyes have never started hurting from it. Never understood this.
>>51974023
IKTFB
>>51974152
this + it never made me feel sleepy
>>51974023
darkroom mode is god-tier
also i just fucking hate that my monitor's minimum brightness setting is just too fucking high.
it seems like a recent trend.
Fuck off LG, i bought a computer monitor not a fucking lightbox.
>>51974152
Same here.
>>51974469
This is why you buy a macbook.
>>51974026
Can you not
>first time using it
>looks like piss
>after a while
>nice and comfy, eventually forget it's even running
>turn it off

whats a good f.lux program on Linux?

I can smell the shill on it
>>51975955
erm. f.lux?
>>51974023
Once you're used to it it really is a drastic, eye burning, difference.
>>51974152
It's supposed to help your body fall asleep, since bright blue light keeps you awake.
>>51974067
Ty senpai, needed an app like that for android.
>>51976243
I hate sleeping, waste of time.
I'd rather the blue light than not.
>>51976243
I run my monitor in the sRGB setting anyway and that is close to 6500k, so it's not blue to begin with.
>>51976292
Isn't it already built into android? Or is that a CM feature?
>>51974637
>be le me
>install flux
>wtfisthis.jpg

There you go, lrn24chan xD
I literally have both my monitors on max brightness in a completely dark room, no lights.
Are you all just fucking pussies or something? Or is my screens max brightnesses just somehow considerably less than everyone else's?
>>51976314
6500k is incredibly blue.
>>51974023
>tfw U2515H has that feature built in

"Most LCD displays are calibrated to display at 6500K, which has even more blue than noon sunlight (5500K)."

>>51974067
Dude.
CF.lumin for Android. Seriously it's like, the standard.
>>51976354
Have you tried f.lux?
Give it a shot. A few days, maybe a week, you don't have to use drastic settings, I use 4200k, 6500k for day with the slow transition speed.
I work with graphics, so I can't afford to lose the color accuracy.
My eyes burn every day.
>>51976384
>>51976355
Not compared to 9300k which is what most people are running their monitors at.
>>51976424
You can disable it easily when you aren't working.
Surely you aren't working all the time.
>using f.lux
>>51974152
Cuz you're body is still young enough that your brain doesn't get the signals that it's getting fucked
>>51976435
I get so used to the red light that I forget to turn it off when I start working.
Two hours in, I remember to turn it off and everything is fucking blue and I have to re-do it again.
>>51976453
How about using an AHK script or something to disable it when you open your software?
>>51976430

>>51976465
Ah, that's a good idea.
I'm going to try this.
>>51974152
F.lux isn't about your eyes, it's about your sleep schedule
>>51976467
I used a CRT monitor set to 5500k for a long time years ago. I still stayed up til 5 am every night.
I've just installed f.lux and it reminds me a lot of that monitor, so at least there's some comfy nostalgia.
>>51974023
I prefer to use my monitors built in Blue-light control.
It doesn't crash my PC when I play old games, AND it doesn't make it look like someone pissed between between my panel and backlight.
>>51976544
I think what they're getting at is if you get off the computer at the same time every night, you'd fall asleep faster with f.lux than without it.
>>51974023
Definitely a good program for nighttime comp use.
It takes a few seconds to start up every time after my computer finishes logging in and I can feel all that blue light straining my eyes at night.
>>51974037
Let's put it that way.
If at night I'm on my win pc with flux, at around 23 I start to get sleepy and I go to sleep at a decent hour.
If I use my linux pc where I couldn't make redshift work cause I'm retarded I go on shitposting untill 2AM without even realizing how late it is.
I thought flux was placebo effect before starting to use the other linux pc, but it actually works.
senpai desu
>>51976292
I used Night Filter when I was on android.
I should search something like that for my WP
>Flux
>monitor brightness at 0
Still too shiny. I hate fucking LCDs. I think I'm going to start reducing contrast in my GPU driver. But there's still that white led underneath, there's something particularly grating about white leds.
>>51977125
redshift -l latitude:longitude
Replace latitude and longitude with values for place where you live (eg. from google maps) and put it in your autostart.
>>51977221
I did, I at least know how to man.
But it refuses to do anything.
Even trying the demo function that should cycle through the various temperatures did absolutely nothing.
Running Debian/i3wm.
Maybe I'll give it another try, and if it still doesn't work I'll ask in flt or sqt
>>51976376
who is this vamp tramp
>>51977240
That's maybe because of randr not working properly. Try to choose other method with -m flag. Available methods for you are listed with redshift -m list.
>>51977278
I'll give it a try when I'm back home, thanks.
