We have a latex foam mattress, it's firmer and a lot better for us, and we don't roll together. Especially important when more than 2 people may roll together. But it's all preference in the end of the day. Hell, some people even like springs.

I've tried a bunch of different mattresses (I have degenerative disk disorder) and really they are all pretty similar for me as long as they are firm. So a firm foam one is fine. Ones I sink in make everything worse.
