What is the next big social media platform? Or did Twitter and Facebook win forever?
>>51959620
BBS
It could be something like instagram, but more normie.
>>51959677
It doesn't get more normie than instacuck
>>51959620
4chan. You know it's already happening
>>51959620
Fidonet
The next big thing will likely be related to an improvement in technology. Kind if like how web 2.0 preceded Facebook/Twitter or how faster internet speeds made BBS obsolete (for the most part).
Either that or it'll be a niche way of communicating. VR is likely to be pretty big in the future, so maybe a website/program specially made for VR will make it big.

Khan Academy, it'll have profiles and apps and everything. Culture based around the Singularity. This is not a guess.

>biting sarcasm
Subreddits are a shit tier form of link-centric forum, basically the starting grounds of a wiki and useless after that.

Im ready to plug myself i to a vr matrix

Facebook is already losing its relevance. Almost nobody I know is still actively using it.
>>51961563
I assure you lots of people(normies) still use it, though I'm sure there are people like me that only use it for messenger and groups apps.
The news feed is pure cancer.
and then there's the whole privacy and social engineering issue outlined in their privacy policy.
>>51961563
>Almost nobody I know is still actively using it.
Maybe the main site but pretty much everyone still uses Messenger.
>>51961615
>pretty much everyone still uses Messenger.
and how did that work out for Yahoo?
>>51959620
There needs to be something innovative for people to change.
>>51961563
Everyone I know is using it
>mfw I wish I was you
>>51961563
not that many people actively do stuff on it that people can publicly see, but a vast majority of people still lurk and use the messenger program
Also there really isn't the "next big social media platform" because it hasn't been invented yet. Instagram and Snapchat are probably the closest to what you're thinking of, and they've been around forever.
>>51959620
Twitter doesn't make any money and their management is all fucked up. It seems to be mostly a marketing platform and Facebook and Snapchat (and SMS/iMessage) are winning for realtime communication. Facebook is rather profitable and they are still pushing that Internet.org thing with balloons for the developing world.
We Chat and Whats App dominate outside of the US as well. Then there's Weibo...which I know nothing about but will probably exist forever even if the PLA has to fund it as an intelligence platform.
>>51961694
you're a fucking idiot if you dont think facebook could shut down the site tomorrow and still make a huge profit off patents and other companies they own like instagram and whatsapp. Also just look at how many VR companies/patents they own.
You do also realize that yahoo brought in $1.2 billion last quarter right?
>>51959620
Nah Facebook is already dying out they are pulling anything and everything now to keep themselves afloat.
It will happen in the next years and other services will emerge.
Facebook is gonna stick for a long time. No one I care about still actively posts on it. But annoying people who want to share content that makes them look morally superior so they can get maximum attention still love that shit.
spamming people with advertising isn't a sustainable business model.
facebook is going down once big advertisers pull their support.
Isn't Twitter already on it's decline?
>>51962981
>spamming people with advertising isn't a sustainable business model
what is television, radio and the rest of the internet?
>>51963069
unsustainable.
>>51963150
>radio is just a fad
>tv is just a fad
>internet is just a fad
