Does the media really not now how modern encryption systems work? Do they really think that "tech companies" just have a database that holds all of the encryption keys that we use when we are on a secure connection? Are our leaders so inept that they can't even consult experts to explain how asymmetric cryptography works?
>>
>>51956450

The media doesn't know anything about anything that doesn't involve distorting reality to affirm an agenda.
>>
It honestly heats me up so much that all these "leaders" and the media are talking about encryption when they're not even bothered to Google for 5 seconds what encryption. And the thing is, nobody is the wiser.
>>
>>51956495
what encryption is of any kind***
>>
>>51956450
No, they don't. It really doesn't help that the media portrays encryption as big scary thing that lets pedos and terrorists get around the law.

American's can't even spell their own language.
>>
what if they fucking try to make encryptions illegal
that genuinely scares me

Americans don't have a language, Puta

99% of normies don't know anything about how computers work in general, they view them as magic boxes.

>>51956495
Politicians hate checks on their power. So of course they want to be able to identify anyone and read all their communications, damn the consequences, because that gives them more power over people. Strong crypto and anonymization systems are the Second Amendment of the information age - force governments to respect your rights by simply making it impossible for them not to.

>>51956756
Well the first round of the Crypto Wars won some court battles saying attempts to do that fall down on First Amendment grounds. Even if they do that, you can always grab your stuff from some other nation where there aren't any such restrictions.
>>

>cheeseburgers aren't a language
you make me sick
>>
>>51956756
They can't and they won't, it be much easier to scaring them into not using it than passing laws against it.
>>
>>51956680
That's the grammatically correct usage.

they have to appeal to the average joe who doesn't need to know how encryption schemes work
>>
>"tech companies" just have a database that
holds all of the encryption keys that we use

But they do, certificate entities and big corps do own a big part of private and root keys that can unveil at least 95% of the encrypted traffic nowadays.
>>
Media doesn't know what a fucking internet is. They can't even research what a "4chan person" is.

How the fuck are they going to understand encryption?
>>
>>51957071
>implying the crypto they're talking about is SSL/TLS
Think more of SSH, disk encryption, and encrypted files on disk. There's no external place that holds the keys which is why Apple can say "get fucked lol" when the cops ask them to decrypt an iPhone.

Damn she old

The media doesn't know shit. The fact that this is news to you OP is a little scary.
>>
hillary makes me diamond hard
>>
>>51957104
They could just write the law such that apple and google and any other under its jurisdiction are forced to rewrite their crypto implementations to store the keys somewhere where Jeff has access. Your little autismal nit pickings won't stop them.
>>
>>51956450
Do you think tech illiterate morons like Shillary would be able to understand these things if "experts" explained it to them?
>>
need to setup a filter, to stop seeing this shit.

get enough of it on the news.

Actually, they spelled it properly. Maybe you should stick to your own language.

>>51957368
I bet a lot of people in government understand, but they just don't care. They want power for themselves and their organizations and they don't particularly care what collateral damage it causes.
>>
>>51957443
Yes, but these are not the people you typically see on TV or on the news.
>>
>>51956835
>>51957425
No, it's not. You don't put an apostrophe when saying shit like that. It should be CEOs. CEO's implies possessiveness.

Dumb fucks. It's just like when you say "the 80's were great." It's not "80's," it's "80s."

Is /g/ really this stupid...it's not about encryption...it's about forcing these businesses with the power of the government to institute back doors in all their products.
