Did you even compare price/performance of OC G3258 vs i3? Because this is hardly "saving few bucks". I agree G3258 is definitely not a top tier pick for gayman PC but if you are poor and just need something with good value then there is nothing better.

Because:
- It does not worth to upgrade from the current socket to the same socket
- DDR4 is upon us

And then you can build on that.

BF4, BF:H, BO3, they all eat a lot.
BO3 is around 4GB of ram.
Which is do-able, but then you also run Chrome probably, Spotify, Skype... so things like that.
One thing though, you should buy the RAM used. Ok, buy it from "trusted source" (not your local craigslist ad).
That way you can easily get 16gb and not go bankrupt.

(I am not from the US, we have a Craigslist kind of site for hardware. Everyone got points, ratings, etc. Point is, you don't get scammed there.)
Use Google to compare CPU performance, like "i7 3770 passmark", and things like that.
Trust me, the difference between Sandy and Haswell is not much. And all of them beats AMD by miles.
