Anyone know how to turn a laptop into a surveillance camera, in a way that doesn't make it obvious to people entering your room that it's recording?
Windows 8 comes with the camera app, which is great, but it turns off when the screen locks. So I guess my alternate question is does anyone know a way around this, so that the screen can be locked, but the camera can still record?
Anyone?! /g/. I don't know if there's a more suitable group of people, on 4chan, to ask.

You nig nogs aren't being helpful though.

Why not set it so the screen never locks?

That's an option, but how do I make it so it's not obvious to people the camera is recording? I can't get it to run in the background. Switching tabs automatically leads the video to stop.

Install a form of GNU/Linux
Run camera
Runxset dpms force off
There you go. Your computer is now recording with the screen off.

if it's a laptop it should have a key to just turn the monitor black without locking it.
